If he cannot throw, he should not be playing. I have read teams are running on him with impunity.
I guess it’s WompWomp o’clock?
At the end of the day, Chas starting in CF is not the worst thing ever. He had a 107 OPS+ last year, 106 this year. He’s an average to slightly above average hitter who plays a pretty good CF.
I’m seeing that.
I still think its temporary (optimistic) but I would like to see him 100% before he is playing and impacting MLB games and that is most likely next year.
Dang
Yep, Chas looks to be the best choice today.
To me the biggest issue with Chas playing CF every day is that until Brantley returns he is also the best option for LF and back up in RF.
Unless Diaz is getting most of the starts in LF.
I wonder why they’re waiting another hour for the presser…
Yordan is the LFer.
What JC has said about Jake and his arm…
Hidden
More alarming than anything since Meyers’ return is his throwing arm. The A’s ran at will against him earlier this week and took extra bases. The Mariners tried during this series, too. Click acknowledged the problem on Sunday morning and said coach Jason Kanzler is working with Meyers to correct it.
“Jake is medically 100 percent, but sometimes there could be a mental side of it where you just have to get comfortable with the idea of letting it go,” Click said.
“It is something that we’re aware of and we’re going to work on, but at the same time, I don’t want to lose sight of how good of an outfielder he is in terms of running balls down. He’s made some catches that, quite frankly, I don’t think could have been made this season. We have to take the whole player into account.”
Mancini, Dubon, Diaz
I am fine with that and think he is the best option as long as it doesn’t effect his hand.
Its curious that they have not played him in LF since the ASB.
Yep. Yordan and Mancini will split their starts between LF and DH. No different than Yordan and Brantley.
Chaz is too good of a fielder/weapon in the outfield to waste in LF unless you’re got a badass CF.
LF/DH: Alvarez, Mancini, Diaz, Vazquez (only DH)
log jam
The Astros did not lose today. Did they make that last move we wanted? No but the longer the day went on the less I liked the CF options out there or not out there. Click and team made 3 moves that sure up weaknesses and made the team stronger as a whole. This is a good fucking baseball team. One of the 3 or 4 best teams in the whole damn league. There’s only one thing left to do. Win the whole fucking thing. Let’s go
That does make sense and makes me feel better.
Since the All star break 13 games
LF: Chas 7g, Diaz 6g, Yordan 0g
If THIS Meyers is starting in the playoffs it could be a problem.
I guess Click thinks he’s 100% healthy, its in his head and he just needs to “let it go” ( throwing)
But if
Chas starts in CF
Alvarez/Diaz share LF
Alvarez/Mancini share DH
Yuli/Mancini share 1B
Maldy/Vazquez share C
Then I think this is a formidable team.
But if he still can’t throw or hit for power, and is K’ing 30+% of the time Meyers may not an asset to the roster.
