Maybe he’s going to the Browns - they don’t care about bad contracts or consent.
It would be so so funny if Hosmer said fuck you, do it without me or find a 3rd team
I really would prefer to not have a replay of the Max Scherzer trade deadline saga that saw the Dodgers get him. As long as it’s not the Yankees or Dodgers getting Soto, I’m good.
From the Astros’ perspective, maybe the Soto deal finally pushes the Giants to sell and Click can get one of their CFs. I don’t know, I’m grasping at straws. Very hard to see a clear path to a CF upgrade. I really hope Click can swing something.
Don’t get me wrong Soto to the Padres is about the best thing outside of Soto to the Astros. Sometimes I just want to watch the world burn, if its funny that is. And Hosmer nixing the deal would be objectively funny to me. I hope deal goes through one way or the other
Hosmer will have a high price for his waiver.
I’m wondering if the Nationals might promise to either eat the rest of his salary and cut him loose or move him on to another team
Jim’s probably right: all this will do is get Hosmer some bonus. But I’m with Doyce: it would be hilarious if he kept it “under consideration” until one minute before the deadline and then said no.
Uh oh. Don’t put that evil on us.
Totally hilarious the Padres did not get this duck in the row.
Preller did the same thing with Max Scherzer last July, and Scherzer was acquired by the Dodgers. Lesson not learned, apparently.
Its a little bit different this time because this time the player saying no is not the one they are trading for. Once Scherzer said no it was dead dead dead. If Hosmer says no they just have to find another way to get the deal done. I would bet one set of people are talking to Hosmer and nother are laying some groundwork for another iteration of the trade just in case
For whatever reason, idk if it has to do with contracts or the players union or what but teams never really talk to players about no-trade clauses until the deal is ready to be aproved
Hosmer not going.
I hope Hosmer is rattling off a list of nonsensical demands like Hans Gruber.
Let’s not forget who waited until the literal last minute to waive his no trade clause.
Baseball twitter is having the time of its life.
I wonder how the deal changes without Hosmer.
