I am going to trust Click and the brain trust on the Smith trade. The consensus on here for days was if we traded Jake O., the return would be minimal, but we got a LHP MLB reliever who has been very good in the recent past. I think our talent evaluators must see something they like in his pitching, and undoubtedly the pitching coaches believe they can cure his current pitching ailments. The track record of this brain trust acquiring relievers causes me to trust this trade.
We will see. I like this trade and its possibilities much better than if it were Jake O. for some AA prospect. As someone said, Smith can be a lefty hitter specialist until whether he is fixable becomes apparent. We have several closers.

I was dreaming about Bell, Contreras and Chafin.
Instead it was Mancini, Vasquez and Smith.
Probably just as good if not better - though Bell is the guy I would want to replace Yuli for the next 3 - 5 years if he is signable in the offseason.

Days of Wine and Roses is another great song. I prefer it to Moon River. I don’t think Henry Mancini was terrible at all. He was mostly composing orchestral pop music for movies and television. Maybe schmaltzy but not terrible.

I wasn’t familiar with Slater but he looks like a good option. Or Yastrzemski even, low batting average but does everything else well, plus he hits from the left. Taylor is having a good season in KC but historically he’s a weak bat and the underlying numbers this season aren’t pretty.
I hope Click is not done.

Preller is the kind of guy to empty that vault to go for it. Especially when you keep control of Soto.
