Trade Deadline 2022

Um… Smith has been very not good this year.

Quite a day

Back up catcher - Vasquez
Brantley insurance LF - Mancini
Left Handed reliever RP - Will Smith (Slap not included)

Odorizzi, Siri, 3 prospects — Not too bad

I would imagine any pitching pick up comes with the “we can fix him” caveat.

I love this trade bc mgt believes McCullers is good, right?…right?!?

He’s been pretty good against LHB this year, and was good all around until July, when he turned into a BP pitcher.

I’m gonna have to trust the Stros on this one.

What the hell?

So long to Jake O.

He took his struggles very hard.

I hope he enjoyed the success he did have.

This may tell us what they think of LMJ.

While his numbers this season are underwhelming, Will Smith saved 37 games for the Braves last season and has a track record of being good.

I wish Jake all the best in Atlanta unless the Astros meet the Braves in a World Series rematch. He figured something out in May after a rough start and helped the Astros’ rotation.

Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he’s got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

Also, that they feel Hunter Brown is a good enough insurance policy in AAA, if need be.

The talent and track record is there but he’s had a tough season and a horrible July. Many Braves fans glad to be rid of him. Let’s hope the Astros and a change of scenery can fix him. As a side note, this dumps Odorizzi’s contract which is a plus.

I’m not saying I love the move. But, if the Astros are comfortable with McCullers’ health after multiple rehab outings and the possibility of calling up Hunter Brown from AAA if necessary, I understand it.

Click’s quote to Berman that “we are not done by any means” sure reads to me like more than the Odorizzi/Smith swap is coming.

Pipe dream I know, but the Nate Evoldi I saw tonight would like great in an Astros uniform.

He’s a FA after this year, right? Can’t see that as much of a factor.

He’s got an expensive option with an expensive buyout.

I think he had a player option that he was most likely to envoke due to the dollars.

I guess the brass decided that the 'Stros needed a left handed reliever after all…

After some good years in SF, his time in Atl has been up and down (hopefully he has some up left for this year).

With the bullpen arms the 'Stros have, he can just be the lefty specialist.

We’re not done yet by Click has some ring to it. Who do you think we are after?

I’m fascinated.

Well, if you wanted to improve CF and Brian Reynolds is off the table, here are two intriguing options…

Michael A Taylor - Royals - currently batting .280 with a .747 OPS. He’s under control thru 2023 at $4.5M per.

Austin Slater - Giants - currently batting .283 with a .819 OPS. Currently making $1.85M with two arb years left.

Not sure if I’ve heard their names mentioned anywhere this trade season. I would think Taylor could be had. Giants aren’t out of the race yet so Slater might not be available.
