I would be really surprised if they bring Laureano back. He is definitely not 2019 Laureano. He is having a poor year at the plate. His defensive runs saved in center field is -47 so he doesn’t look like an upgrade on defense. And then he is Laureano.
That move would most certainly cost you Hunter Brown and Pedro Leon at a minimum. I’m not poo pooing that idea, because you would have Reynolds for 3 more years, but I’m guessing it would take that.
Fair enough - I might be making more out of Laureano possibly. Would just like to get this position sorted in a way where (like Machete), we find the speed/defensive criteria we need with a bit more production.
I do like Meyers, but he is searching at present to find his swing (or that’s how it looks to my novice eyes), and some production in CF to go along with Mancini and Vasquez would be a tremendous trade deadline (although I have yet to see who the prospects are in Vasquez deal - probably waiting on the medical confirmation before announcing).
Jesus Alou, did not realize that Reynolds was that expensive. No way I want to give up Brown, Leon or Emmanuel at this point unless you are getting someone like Soto (even then I might be hesitant).
I’d have to really consider it for another run at a title. You’d have Reynolds, a proven major leaguer for 3 more years. Regardless of what you think Leon could be, he’s unproven. Brown would hurt but for a serious shot at another title, I’d roll the dice.
Reynolds and Happ are upgrades at the plate but neither gives anything more than barely average defense in center field. Reynolds has had a big fall off in production this year. Click has hit a deadline home run already. He may be content to go with his two upgrades and Meyers/McCormick.
