Trade Deadline 2022

Prospect Jayden Murray, what is your destination?

Love this move. Not sure about his defensive chops, but Vazquez can hit and can be a competent second catcher.

I like Korey Lee, I think he’s going to be a really good catcher, but I’m glad to have an experienced backup who can really hit

He can hit, he throws out 30% would be base stealers, and has 3 passed balls on the season this year.

Now, a CF please, and Laureano is ok with me…

Even better. Gives the Astros two really good catchers so Maldonado doesn’t have to catch 70-75% of games.

Right now, I am thinking what could Odorizzi + Solomon/Luke Berryhill/Chas McCormick get us in CF?

Brian Reynolds
Ian Happ
Ramon Laureano
Adolis Garcia (might need more than above but could be worth it - love this guy).

Probably another prospect like Joe Perez or JJ Matjevic with each of these 4

I’m glad to see you think that. (RE: Lee’s catching skills).

I would be really surprised if they bring Laureano back. He is definitely not 2019 Laureano. He is having a poor year at the plate. His defensive runs saved in center field is -47 so he doesn’t look like an upgrade on defense. And then he is Laureano.

I’d rather have Chas McCormick

Brian Reynolds would be an amazing move, but would cost a whole lot more than what you mentioned.

That move would most certainly cost you Hunter Brown and Pedro Leon at a minimum. I’m not poo pooing that idea, because you would have Reynolds for 3 more years, but I’m guessing it would take that.

I’d probably do it.

Fair enough - I might be making more out of Laureano possibly. Would just like to get this position sorted in a way where (like Machete), we find the speed/defensive criteria we need with a bit more production.

I do like Meyers, but he is searching at present to find his swing (or that’s how it looks to my novice eyes), and some production in CF to go along with Mancini and Vasquez would be a tremendous trade deadline (although I have yet to see who the prospects are in Vasquez deal - probably waiting on the medical confirmation before announcing).

Brian Reynolds is great in a lineup but not really a CF

I woul still be thrilled if they did it but he’s a LF not a CF

But Rickey Henderson wasn’t a CF either and he was OK

Jesus Alou, did not realize that Reynolds was that expensive. No way I want to give up Brown, Leon or Emmanuel at this point unless you are getting someone like Soto (even then I might be hesitant).

I’d have to really consider it for another run at a title. You’d have Reynolds, a proven major leaguer for 3 more years. Regardless of what you think Leon could be, he’s unproven. Brown would hurt but for a serious shot at another title, I’d roll the dice.

I think Reynolds has been declared unavailable. Who else is an upgrade?

Reynolds and Happ are upgrades at the plate but neither gives anything more than barely average defense in center field. Reynolds has had a big fall off in production this year. Click has hit a deadline home run already. He may be content to go with his two upgrades and Meyers/McCormick.

You might be right Jim. Vaguely think I heard that this morning.

I would still like to get Soto from the Tigers.
