Rays DFA’ed Brett Phillips to make room for Siri.
There is nothing strange about this pickup. The Astros needed a 1B/OF to protect against Brantley not returning this season and Yuli’s struggling bat. Mancini fits the bill. He will get most of his starts at DH or LF for now, and spell Yuli when he needs a day off.

Jose Siri is good for baseball. Hope he makes it in Tampa and that he doesn’t Toroize the Astros.

Agreed, and it’s a move the Astros needed to make with Brantley’s rest-of-season outlook so murky. They can rotate between Mancini and Yordan in LF/DH, and Mancini can play 1B on days Yuli needs a day off.
If it were to come in to play, Mancini does damage in yankee stadium. Second most home runs there than any other field.

I guess Matijevic gets sent down.
I think thats good for him if he can get regular ABs to continue his development.
I hope he gets a chance to play tonight and gets a hit first.
The interesting thing is if Brantley returns then they will need to send Meyers or Chas down, or DFA Dubon.

Wow, a day or two after they did a jersey thing for him.
This is probably the most important point when you’re looking at Mancini. Pushing out the LF wall at Camden really hurt his HR numbers—but he’s a perfect fit for the Boxes.
As long as they don’t get in his head. I think we’ve seen other people get pull-happy, to their detriment.

With Siri gone, Justin Dirden may get called up to AAA. He has been hitting the cover off of the ball and he does play some center field. So far, he has hit .323/.409/.601 with 18 home runs and 61 rbi’s. He may not be far off if he continues his success in AAA.

Mancini has played 1B(28g) RF(10g) and LF(3g) this season as well as DH
Without looking at actual ball hit results, the home park DID NOT appear to dampen his HR.
5 HR in 191 PA at home
5 HR in 210 PA on the road.
Very slightly better at Camden Yards
.762 OPS / 113 OPS+ vs .740/113
Better vs RH pitching
.787/124 vs .679/91
But Yuli is better vs LH
.751/108 vs .655/86
