Nowhere to go but up

I wonder where Verlander would fall on their top 100.

They’ll still lose the Division Series in 5 games.

A mighty swing and a tapper back to the mound. So much missed opportunity with that caption. I’ll do their work for them:

BREAKING: Dodgers sign Godzilla early this morning from the North Pacific Ocean. 5 years, $900 million, with $700M deferred until 2040 for this bonafide cleanup hitter.

Which is an excuse to recommend Godzilla Minus One, a great movie and tribute to the original Japanese version of 1954

Disagree with this rec, as someone with no time for romanticizing of Imperial Japan

Sometimes a story breaks without clear facts, and as time goes on, you realize it’s not as big a deal as it sounded in the beginning. This one has gone the opposite direction.

Tied and true: ignore them, and they’ll go away.

Give most 20 year old guys $180MM, shit’s gonna happen. But then, he might just be a sick motherfucker.

Not that kind of shit.

Theres shit and then there this shit

Giolito to the Red Sox on a 2-year deal. Next candidate?

Chris Sale to the Braves in exchange for Vaughn Grissom.

Not seeing what the Braves are seeing there.

Low risk for them with tons of upside. He will be a back of the rotation starter for them. If he can rebound at all, it’ll be a good deal for Atlanta. Even if he flops, this is costing the Braves very little.

“Very little” may be going a little far, I know the shine has certainly come off Grissom as a prospect but as recently as a year ago he was seen as one of the best in the game.

For some teams, yes, but not Atlanta. He’s expendable with their roster and they could use some rotation help/depth. If Sale rebounds at all, they are better.

They’re giving up quite a bit for a guy who hasn’t even been a back of the rotation starter since 2018. Sure, if he goes out and completely transforms from the pitcher he’s been the last five seasons, it’s a good deal. I just see no reason whatsoever to expect that he will.

His peripherals were slightly better than his actual results last year but nothing that would make you suggest he’ll have a big rebound. And getting >80 IP from him would be a surprise.
