Lol. When I read this earlier thought the exact same thing. Oh the rangers won last year’s series.
I was at a local pub picking up a burger last night and while I was waiting for my food, I eavesdropped on some Red Sox fans talking baseball at the bar. A few minutes in, one of the guys says, “the Astros picked up some scrub from the hapless A’s today. How long until he’s their next pitching superstar? My money is less than a year”. Apparently, I did a poor job of hiding my smug satisfaction because they invited me into the convo with a hearty New England “ya like basebwah?”. When I said I was a long-time Astros fan, they peppered me with 15 minutes of questions about the players, their development rationale, the culture, etc… Not a single comment or question about past transgressions. The convo ended with one of them saying, “I hate the Astros but I got mad respect for them”. This has been my experience with the vast majority of New England baseball fans outside of the immediate Boston metro area.

Yamamoto to Dodgers for 13/$325M
I thought we sunk her during the war.
Shot him down.
Sunk, her sister battleship too
Fucking Dodgers
What’s worse is that they’ve structured the deal so they’re only charged $.75 per year under the luxury tax.
At this point I’m hoping that Kershaw comes back just to put more stress on their budget.
The Dodgers now owe over $1 billion to two players, neither of whom have ever played an inning for them.
I’m sure the Pirates are saying “missed it by that much.”
The “problem” here is that the Pirates will happily take (and pocket) their share of expanded gate receipts when the Dodgers visit. Voila, money for nothing. I doubt that PIT management views that as a problem, although you and I may.
Management only views it as a problem in that they want to pay players less. So they can pocket more money. But as long as both sides are printing money, don’t expect either side to force any change.
I guess if you are going to bust through the ceiling, you might as well do it with gusto.
Report says Machete is close to a deal with the White Sox, where he’d be in line to share time with Korey Lee.
Update: Heyman says it’s done, one year with an option. I’m going to assume that’s a club option.

Their assessment of the farm system posits that the trading of Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford moved them from the middle of the pack to the farm talent basement (their terminology)
For his sake I hope the atmosphere around that club improves.
