The Void: 2022-23 Offseason

If your tip is accurate, the Reds certainly have some very, very interesting MiLB infielders to choose from.

Eovaldi to Rangers is being reported. Have not seen years/dollars yet.

ETA: now I have.

Astros have real depth in minor league outfielders too: Gilbert, Melton, Leon, Barber, Clifford (if you count him as an OF), and getting deeper down the list you’ve got Dirden, Cerny, and a handful of other intriguing guys. Makes sense for a team in a long-term rebuild like Cincinnati to cash in a stud reliever for prospects. Could see a match there.

Rangers rotation on paper looks pretty good.

They certainly finally recognized their biggest problem.

Bullpen questions but that rotation looks like a good way to get thru the first 5-6 innings.

The AL West competition got better this offseason, for sure.

Rangers are close to being pretty good. Our starting pitching is my biggest question mark. Our lineup is better, and our bullpen is back intact, but I lack confidence in a couple of the SP over a 162 game season. If we make the trade with the Reds the buzz is about, what will we do then? Diaz is a top reliever.

M’s will be better also

What is Anthopoulos’ secret to getting all these stars to sign below-market deals?

Hey, that Anthopolous guy might work well in some sort of AL team in need of a GM.

I love the Stros, but not sure why Alex would want to leave ATL for HOU. A third of their team (core players) is locked up for the next 5+ years and they have had success which means he’ll have plenty of rope should they stumble over the next year or two.

In their annual year-end executive awards issue, Baseball America awarded the Mariners as the organization of the year. To avoid second-guessing, they included an article on the Astros discussing three criteria for the selection, which excluded the Astros because they lacked “continuity” for losing their GM.

The only postseason award I care about was handed to Jim Crane on November 5th.

Oh, he wouldn’t.

We just need to steal his magic hypnotism watch.

Any more news re flirting with the Reds?

Nothing really.

Lots of people making various comments then about 4 hrs later “he” responded.

Yes, it could mean several different possibilities. Told the Astros want some flexibility to try different things without weakening the ball club. As for Diaz, they just really like his upside and long term control.
