The owner is worth $13 billion, so Nimmo contracts could be the rule and not the exception
I like Meyers just fine but “are you willing to bet your career on Jake Meyers?”
I’m curious how Justin Dirden will do this next year. He was raking the ball most of the year in the minors but cooled off towards the end. He played 48 games in CF. He hit .302/.384/.942 24/101.
Just another day at OWA.
After all these high dollar, extra year or two than the norm deals we’ve been seeing? Highly doubtful. Enjoy King Tuck while you can.
I think I can live with the Meyers/McCormick duo in center again, but if we go that route, we have to make another move. I know they plan to play Alvarez more in left, which I’m good with, but unless we trade for a center fielder, the only good outfield bats left are corners. That would mean Alvarez splitting time in left and at DH with Benintendi, Conforto or Brantley. I think I’d be fine with that, but the price for both is going up as the fish get plucked from the pond.
Yeah, the Tucker contract, if we get it done, will probably be a record breaker for the franchise.
I love Tucker but I’d prioritize Framber
That’s what you get for starting too early. I’ll be a bit shy of 20% then.
Guys with a .385 OBP, do not grow on trees
If you look around the table and can’t tell who the sucker is…
While that may be true, I’m glad the Astros won’t be paying him $20mm for 8 years. He seems to be injury prone as well.
I read they are talking to several teams about several things.
One surprising and interesting one is Colorado about Kris Bryant.
Apparently they would kick in considerable money but no word on what prospects they are wanting.
They got Bonilla off the books, right?
So 8 years for Nimmo fits into the budget
I bet he plays a few more games than Bonilla did. Maybe just a few.
Kris Bryant? Why? Dude has averaged like 75 games played a year over last 3 seasons and he doesn’t hit lefty.
I guess if they traded for a lefty stick in CF (maybe ARZ) then they could bring in Bryant to split LF DH duties with Yordan.
Not quite:
The Mets owe Bonilla $1,193,248.20 every July 1 through 2035 as part of their agreement when New York released Bonilla following the 1999 season.
Shocking, I know, but not everything the pundits write is true. I trust Crane and the Assist GMs to make wise decisions.
May not be LH but he hits righties plenty hard. Offers some positional versatility too, at least in a pinch. And since Colorado loves trading big bats for pennies on the dollar I bet he could be had at a reasonable price despite the fat contract. Hell, when you compare it to the FA contacts guys are getting this year, he’s downright cheap.
Other than 2020, he’s been a well above average hitter, but cost (both dollars and prospects) would determine the benefit of any deal.
We have enough RH hitters now. Move on from Bryant, please. Brantley, Benintendi, or Varsho? I hope Brantley is healthy. Varsho seems to fill two needs. Benintendi would be ok too.
