The Void: 2022-23 Offseason

Both won the gene pool lottery. Justin has put in the work too. And Kate looks great in a swimsuit.

From the context I knew dosh either meant money or breasts.

And both of those could mean money.

That comment is incredibly rude. Have you ever seen her work out videos?? Seriously, I don’t think you could do them. But, yeah, she’s pretty so that’s the only reason she has any worth.

I was joking.

Gets you in trouble sometimes.

Looking great in a swimsuit requires putting in the work too. Not that I would know the slightest thing about that.

I remember thinking when Crane hired Ryan back in 2013. “Good, now Crane will not talk to the media anymore.” We need some layers back between him and microphones.

I remember thinking this morning “all Crane has done is built a factory of winning, and people are complaining about what a lousy owner he is”.

I bet both of those figures are low. Heck, we paid Justin $91 million over the last 3 years and according to baseball reference his earnings to date are around $317 million. I realize that’s not the same as net worth but it also doesn’t include NIL stuff he’s been doing for the last 17 years which I bet is at least 10-15 million.

If he’s chasing more money he deserves whatever fate the baseball gods decide to bestow. He knows how special this clubhouse is and how much work these guys put into it. If he willingly decides to piss on it for an extra few million I might just have to doubt the sincerity in which he spoke about “renewing his love for the game.”

You don’t have to do something to know it takes work

Thank you for asking.

I think JV is simply shopping the market to see what the market will bare. After that he’ll give Crane a chance to match it.

I agree totally. I wish Drayton to come back for all the people who bitch, moan, and complain.

Agreed with the last sentence. Me too.

Crane is the single unifying element of this entire, longstanding Astros run of excellence. I’ve mentioned this here before but all evidence points to his excellent management of his “company” leading to these sustained outcomes. GM’s come and go. Managers come and go. Coaches and staff come and go. Players come and go. The Astros keep winning and sustaining excellence up and down the org. Culture trumps poor or mediocre management. Excellent management creates sustained cultural excellence.

Yes and further your point, Crane is the reason I won’t be that hurt if we miss out on Verlander. That’s bc 1) if we don’t resign him I know it won’t be for lack of effort; and 2) he will most likely turn around and use the money he would have spent on JV (or close to it) to improve the team in another area.

I don’t think anybody thinks Crane is or has been a bad owner. That doesn’t mean that you can’t question one or multiple of his moves or decisions. That’s part of being a fan. So is wondering aloud about the trends of management

No, that is part of being a fan like you and others are, and I am not saying there is anything wrong with that. It is not of part of being a fan for me. I do not concern myself or worry about owner decisions or organization management. To me, that is the owner’s prerogative and not my business because his money, not mine, is involved and on the line. My fandom is concerned mostly with what happens on the field and in games. Because I coached, I watch intently how the players play the game, and managerial moves or the lack thereof get my special attention. I am greatly interested in roster construction and follow trades and player acquisitions avidly. I am not saying any of you should be like I am or that your kind of fandom is wrong. I am saying only what kind of fan I am.
