He’s trying his best to be Jerry Jones. He should look real hard at how that has worked.

Crane did not fire him. He offered him a one-year contract. Click refused, which Crane probably knew he would do.
So we’ll win it all next year then go to shit for 25 years?
Again, Rosenthal? I think you and Drelich did that.
It’s Nightengale so who knows but…
Someone will take this job for sure, but it’s probably not going to be a proven executive. Few, if any GM’s with a proven GM track record, are going to want to work with Crane after this stunt. Crane should just make Bagwell or Jackson the GM.
The quotes I read did not seem like “public airing of grievances” at all. Crane has his head up his ass.
Crane absolutely knew he would refuse. He just wanted a way to be able to wash his hands.
You would be surprised, imo. Astros are in a position to make the next GM look good.
Yeah, that was obvious from the start. Crane getting skewered on MLB Radio and TV.
Fucking ridiculous.
Actually they are in a position to make the next GM look very bad if they don’t end up in another WS appearance.
Yep - the backend of a 3 year contract is going to have some very tough decisions with this roster.
That is unmitigated nonsense.
I could see this going either way: a qualified candidate is turned off by what is perceived to be a meddling owner, or a qualified candidate is anxious to take over a stacked team that is positioned for continued success. Who knows? Time will tell.
I’m shocked. $11.5M per year for a reliever?
Me too.
Edwin Diaz just got $20M
