Meanwhile Ukraine seems to have won the Battle of Kharkiv, a serious counter-offensive is underway at Izium, and it turns out Russian pontoon bridges and everything and everyone around them done blowed up REAL good!

There are credible reports that Ukraine has retaken parts of Severodonetsk. Some reports suggest it was a “rope a dope” scheme with Ukrainians feigning surrender of the city only to entrap and kill hapless Russians.
Longer range HIMARS mobile rocket propelled artillery has just been announced as “on the way” which will take several weeks-- but I think they have been on the way for awhile and were just announced. At least two new Ukrainian tank brigades with Polish tanks are formed and trained. There has been a lot of partisan activity east of Melitipol.
Russia has seen their big Donbas offensive gains only a little ground for huge losses. The longer the war goes on, the older the equipment that gets pushed to the front becomes. Russia is now putting in 1960s era tanks.
I think a big counter offensive will be coming around July. Not a direct attack on Kherson, but a big sweep east of Melitopol to the Black Sea cutting off Crimea. Then, they can sieze the territory east of Kherson and cut off the water to Crimea. New, long range drones will put the fleet at Sevastopol at risk.
It’s going to be a long, hot summer for the Russians.

That rope a dope move was the specialty of the Mongol hordes. They’d feign panic and retreat in the lines and stay close enough for the enemy to keep pursuit. Meanwhile they’d be showering them in arrows and then once they got to a designated spot or they felt the enemy was tired they would turn and wipe them out.
I think maybe Sitting Bull and his warriors used that one on Custer too. All the Indians in the world were waiting just over the hill.

Perfidy. Frowned upon my military strategists and the Geneva Conventions but when you are trying to save your life and the lives of others, all is fair.
“Ruses of war”, which seems to be the case here, do not constitute perfidy.
