It’s my favorite comic book based TV series yet.

My wife tells me how terrible it is and won’t watch it with me but sits at the computer chuckling at all the jokes.

Brass musicians everywhere are planning illnesses to stay out of those recording sessions.

Went to a best of John Williams concert at Houston Symphony. Even their brass were cracking notes in the encore.

The community orchestra I’m in is performing the original Star Wars suite in a couple of weeks. In six years of playing many professional arrangements (including other John Williams works, e.g. 1941, Indiana Jones, Superman) this is the only time I’ve ever truly felt out of my depth. I never want to hear this music again.

In what way are you out of your depth, please? Is it very challenging music?

It is both very technically challenging (par for the course for John Williams) but also has very nonintuitive harmonies and supporting parts. That the pros make it sound so effortless is a testament to their talent.

ETA: I should also add that these things are exactly why Williams’s music is so damn cool to listen to.

I can very specifically point to one of the UT faculty shit-talking John Williams as a key point in losing my love for the degree I was pursuing.

I had no idea that Quantum Leap is based on a single episode from the original Battlestar Galactica. That’s some Inception level shit.

Also, the Pearl Harbor (movie) burn is perfect.

I was always impressed by the show’s production values.

And that last episode is one of the best I can recall of any series.

God bless, Sam.

I guess it’s time to get back on LinkedIn Paramount+.

Ep 1 of Picard S2 was very good.

Now going to catch up on Lower Decks and Disco waiting for Ep 2.

Lower Decks is still the best new Trek. Not even close.

Completely agree, and given all shows’ entire bodies of work so far, Prodigy may actually have the next slot for me. Both animated shows are really doing some heavy lifting.

Every episode is a “proper” Trek episode, as well as being properly funny.

Less than 5 minutes into S4 E1 of Disco, and they have a completely dumb conversation that results in a wholly unnecessary chase during which they conceive of and execute a fix of a 300+ year old problem on a planet they’ve never seen before.
