The sci-fi TV thread

Isn’t that kind of the point? AC was a prime time show on ABC, ditto AoS, not an off piste novel or fan fiction.

Feige is channeling his inner Abrams here.

Nanjiani has COVID to thank for this. Once the lockdown started, he hit the weights. He’s pretty ripped now, which is a pre-requisite for any role in superhero movies these days (see Bettany, Paul).

His new build is actually all pre-COVID.

Don’t jinx this!

Had to do it for Eternals

Ted Lasso is a must-follow on Twitter.

Just starting watching Ep 7 of FAM. In just the intro, shit got very, very real.

I watched the first three episodes of Made for Love last night. Funny dialogue, nuanced humor, well acted. Not a bad comedic sci-fi, if a bit moribund.

I’m going to give that a try. If for no other reason that Hannah Ware is another actor spawned from my school.

Anyone see Godzilla vs Kong yet?

Not yet, but apparently the people plot is bad, the Giant Monkey v Lizard fights are good. I’d post a very appropriate picture but HH would get mad.

I stand with HH. No one here should be posting photos of their giant lizard.

Especially if it’s angry.

Correction: I was thinking this was “The One”, which is about a DNA-based matchmaking service. It’s pretty good; a hybrid of a murder-mystery and an episode of Black Mirror.

Rewatching Spider-Man: Far from Home, and I’m appreciating more how they handled/didn’t handle The Blip. I just caught that the pathetic teacher’s wife pretended to get dusted to run away with a fitness instructor, which is pretty funny.

Man.

Marvel is bringing it with these new series.

Are they going to make any more movies or is it just series for the next few years?

They are definitely making more movies. There are at least 4 coming out this year. Black Widow on July 9th (theaters AND Disney+ (29.99 on top of subscription)), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on September 3rd (I know VERY little about this one),

Eternals on November 5th. This could be VERY interesting. Directed by Chloe Zhao, who got all sorts of praise for Nomadland, and some of the Marvel people said it might be as good as Endgame. Of course, that’s Marvel people, what else are they going to say?

Spider-Man: No Way Home on December 17th. This could be totally trippy, as it might be featuring not just Tom Holland as Spidey, but there are talks that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield may reprise their roles as well, as this will be a multiverse thing. Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina (I love that guy) will be reprising their roles as the villains Electro and Doc Ock from the SONY movies that Maguire and Garfield were in.

I don’t think there’s any word on whether the other 3 will be on Disney+ or not. Of course, Disney was adamant that they were not going to stream Black Widow… until they announced that they were (very recently).

So yeah, still plenty of Marvel movies to come. The one I’m really waiting for won’t be out til march of next year. Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which will tie in (supposedly) with the events of WandaVision. Directed by Sam Raimi, so that should be interesting.

Bruce Campbell teased that his cameo in this movie does in fact feature his Army of Darkness character.
