This is the way.
Is it me, or are the creatures all stolen from original Star Trek, and the Mandalorian’s ship from Lone Star’s Winnie?
The creatures are all pretty generic SW/ST aliens.
As for the Razorcrest, it’s got a little Space Balls in it for sure.
The three bounty hunters in the valley were copies of the creature from the famously hilarious fight with Kirk. The mudhorn is Trek too, I’m sure of it.
And the Razorcrest is either the Winnebago, or the ship with bewbs from Battle Beyond the Stars.
FTR, I say this with love. The whole show is a masterclass on how to do callbacks without pandering or being cringingly obvious.
His first mark is played by SNL’s Horatio Sanz.
I don’t think this is a spoiler, but you’ll get to Tremors.
Currently at the Seven Samurai / Magnificent Seven / (spookily) Battle Beyond the Stars.
I think I just saw Simon Pegg bite the big one.
Given how I came to have a cat, and how we now coexist, if I was going to a costume party it would be entirely apt for me to dress up as the Mandalorian and for me to dress Ezzy as Baby Yoda.
Of course, before attempting the latter, I would have to do the former and the armor would have to be fully functional.
I am 1000 percent on board with this plan.
Would consider co-costuming as Horatio Sanz’s character, as long as it doesn’t interfere with Life Day.
He is a foundling for whom I became responsible; as if his father. It is the code.
About to start the finale to Season 2. What a phenomenal show! It’s great in its own right and it’s great Star Wars (I’d forgotten what that was like).
But I’m also thoroughly digging that they have borrowed from anywhere and everywhere, unabashedly, just laying it out there. If you see it, you see it; if you don’t, no matter. I have seen everything from xenomorph eggs, to Cylons to a reference to “TPS reports”, and I know I’ve missed a ton.
One of the really obscure things I noticed was a drainpipe that was identical to the pipe Han used to try and brace the trash compactor in ANH. That is the level of detail.
Spoiler
And they just matter-of-factly showed the interior of Slave I rotating as it went from flat to pitched-forward in flight. That may just be subtly simple retconning, or maybe they were referencing this…
“There’s no railing!”
Rogue One and The Mandalorian give me hope for SW entertainment.
Favreau and Filoni are masters, and I can’t wait to see what else comes from the brain trust going forward.
It’s almost like if you give brilliant minds that love the franchise free reign, magic can happen.
Detail level down to graffiti on the walls just are the chef’s kiss of a great show.
When parts fell out of the bottom of that crappy speeder in S1E1, I figured we were in for a fun ride.
Just finished the S2 finale last night, and holy shit.
To Mark’s point about JF and DF’s mastery of the material - I point to that post credits scene. They’re confident enough to present that as “we’re not telling you if this is S3, or a spin off, because it doesn’t matter, just know you’ll hear this story.”
And just after I type that, I see the announcement that it’s a spin off.
Unfortunately, The Mandalorian season 3 won’t be coming out until AFTER Boba Fett, so we’re looking at 2022. This is from Favreau’s interview on GMA this morning. (about 2 mins in is when he’s talking Boba Fett/The Mandalorian
Edit: I should have mentioned the huge spoiler in the video, if you don’t know the big reveal in the season 2 finale, but honestly, you almost have to avoid the internet at this point to not get it spoiled for you. Definitely stay away from YouTube if you have ever searched for Star Wars stuff before.
I only found out about the post credits scene from YouTube.
Binged all of season 2 ( Mandalorian) yesterday.
The finale could not have been better.
Can’t wait for season 3.
