During LeMahieu’s 9th inning AB (3:23:28, 1-0 count; 1-on; no outs - just b/f Judge’s 3-run HR!!!), our broadcasters couldn’t wait to flash the graphic on the screen showing the stat @ .140, but by the end of the inning it was .151
NY Yankees – Lowest Avg (7-GM span vs opponent)
.140 – 2022 vs Astros (b/f Judge HR + 1 more hit)
.150 – 1913 vs Senators
.156 – 1908 vs WS; 1968 vs Twins; 1914 vs WS
Next your going to tell me that a play by play guy saying “no hitter” or “perfect game” causes a batter to get a hit… .151 is still dang impressive and the lowest average in over 100 years. sheesh.
