The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled that Trump is not disqualified for the 2024 ballot.
Presumably now this has to got to SCOTUS. This gives Roberts the chance to do his classic baby-splitting by denying the appeal to have Trump disqualified but also denying that he has immunity.
The problem for Roberts (and all of us) is that he doesnāt control the court anymore as the right-wing hacks donāt need his vote.
Heās not disqualified in Colorado either. There are just a group of whiny liberals having a hissy fit because they know President Trump is going to win. Colorado will be overturned in time. You canāt disqualify someone because you donāt like him or feel as if you canāt beat him.
Upon further reading, the Michigan situation is little more nuanced. The Michigan SC did not deny Trumpās disqualification, it declined to hear the appeal of the appellate courtās ruling. That ruling said that the 14th Amendment cannot be used to bar Trump from the primary ballot, stating that the question of eligibility is only relevant to the general election.
So, essentially, Michigan is agnostic on Trumpās eligibility at this point, kicking the can down the road, perhaps hoping that someone else - either SCOTUS or GOP primary voters - will make this question moot (good luck with that).
Once again, you cannot take someone off of the ballot that you donāt like or know that you cannot beat.
