Very true. And let’s not forget that Trump gave Christie COVID knowingly, and put Christie in the ICU for a week. That was during debate prep, so Christie was still trying to squeeze int the orange clown car in mid-2020. Gov. Christie also created a multi-day gridlock in a town because the mayor wouldn’t endorsement him (very Trump of him). His about face is one of self-serving convenience.
Also, I don’t think the others are running to be Trump’s VP pick; I think they’re running to be in the best position to scoop up his voters when Trump drops out. If Trump is still somehow on the ballot in November, he’ll pick Noem as his running mate, as long as she passes the “audition”.
If there is a reason to watch the debate tonight, it will be Christie tearing through DeSaster’s famously nano-thin skin. There will be much teeth-grinding and bobble-heading going in in response.

It’s as it’s always been with the Republican establishment: they’ll support whomever and whatever can deliver them lower taxes and less regulation.
I doubt they’d do it, but the best long-term strategy for the Republican Establishment would be to push back against the disinformation machine that energizes the two dipshits here. Sure, they’d lose the energy of their base, but they’d at least have a chance at long-term expansion of the party.
During the Trump Administration almost every week was “Infrastructure Week”. His press office promoted it so often, it became a running joke. Every week was “Infrastructure Week”. No bill was ever proposed by the Trump Administration or Congressional Republicans.
