I think the ploy to indict Trump on his own was to avoid the delays and complications of a trial involving multiple defendants. As the talking heads have expressed: this indictment is built for speed.
Apparently there are sealed indictment(s) from the DC grand jury which are believed to be for the co-conspirators. It is possible that they are going to trial regardless, as Smith may not need them as witnesses. If you remember, Giuliani did his “Queen for a Day” bit a couple of weeks ago, but does not look like he’s got a plea deal. 90% of Federal cases plead out, my guess is that Smith is going to insist on jail time for the Seditionist Six.

Trump’s current and former lawyers have been doing to TV circuit, admitting to one of the charges brought against their client. With defense lawyers like these, who needs prosecutors?
Team Trump has been arguing that the “I’m coming for you” troth was about the GOP primaries. It’s a nonsense argument, and probably irrelevant to the judge as it was a blanket threat that could be felt by witnesses to be at them.
They’ll have a chance to make their arguments in court on Monday. I’m sure Trump has been told to be on his best behavior at least until then.
Trump’s attorney, who spent the last two days appearing on every media broadcast he can, filed a motion for an extension of time to respond to the court’s order to show up on Monday.

The most fun thing about that troth regarding Pence is that it specifically references evidence laid out in the indictment. There’s no spinning of this, and Trump is merely proving himself incapable of following a court order.
He’s going to be given a lot of rope - he already has in this case - but he will end up talking himself into pre-trial detention.
