Very Angels headline
Is that the glorified major league team in Anaheim? Or is it Los Angeles? Or, Chino Hills, or Anaheim Hills, or Orange, or Irvine, or Garden Grove, or Santa Ana, or Tustin, or Fountain Valley…
Bless their silly hearts.
As a long time O.C. resident, I have no animosity towards the Angels. They were my nominal “American League team” for years. Dodgers, I hate, but not the Angels. When Bud Selig forced the Astros into the AL West, the Angels just became the local team. I hated the move (still do) but at least the Astros were closer at the Big A more often.
Their recent fecklessness, in spite of spending money on “name brand” players has been frustrating and bewildering for Angels fans. I’m totally fine with it since it helps the Astros, but I don’t get too fired up about it.
Those are some valid points, many of which I wholeheartedly agree with. I also used to cheer for the halos as my AL team, but after bud fuckwad seling’s frogmarch of the Astros, I stopped caring about the halos.
What got under my skin when I lived in SoCal was how many of their fans became so livid and hostile towards the Astros or Astros fans after the sign stealing. I could somewhat understand hated fucking dojers backers’ animosity (none of them were upset when Greg Gagne and many of the dojers where juicing, but I digress), and I had some bad run ins with said losers, but the halos have been nothings for awhile and I found their fans’ loathing petty and misplaced.
At any rate, l’d rather cheer for a team that was the fall guy for a known league wide issue than a franchise that allows its players to die from opioids.
That’s kinda how I feel about all the American League west. Except the mariners of course. I really hate the mariners.
Yep I was in the same boat. Relocated to OC the year before their World Series win so they became my “AL” team. Once the Astros were in the AL West I was done with the Angels. I fucking hate the Doyers and their fans though.

When I lived in St Louis I would root for the Cardinals except when they played the Astros. That was back when they were in the NL East and the Astros were in the NL West. Then when both were in the NL Central and Tony La Russa was their manager and I no longer lived there, I found them loathsome and really easy to hate. Although I did root for them to beat the Rangers in the 2011 WS. There are a few teams I hate because of their histories with the Astros. I just hate the Mariners because as a true Astros fan, I’m supposed to. Bring back the Pilots and send the Mariners to Wisconsin
Angels have had great players. Very little success, IMHO. Even when you think they might be a threat to stros, kinda fold.
The A’s became my AL team when we moved out here. When the Astros were moved to the AL, it gave me a chance to engage in some good natured rivalry with my brother-in-law and a couple of local friends. Most folks around that I know, though, are Giants fans. On the whole, both A’s and Giants fans seem to be pretty civil and knowledgeable.
As an aside, I saw the A’s play the Tigers in a game when Verlander was still on the Tigers. (Can’t remember the exact year, but around 2009-11.) It looked like a football team playing against a baseball team. Those Tigers were a bunch of big dudes.
Growing up in Tucson, yet being from a lonnnnnng line of Austinites and having a Dad who was a fiercely proud UT alumnus who made my younger brother MikeS and me diehard Houston Oilers and Astros fans at a young age, we kind of stood out.
Living in SoCal north of Malibu for 4.5 years, and having always loathed the hated fucking dojers since the NL West days, I realllllllly stood out. When the Astros won the WS, rubbing elbows with said dojers fans was palpable. However, comma, after certain things came out about sign procurement due to rat-fuckers, I was involved in several negative run-ins with some dickwad hated fucking dojer fans (a couple of which were on the 405), and it reinforced what a gaggle of self-entitled, obtuse, dense, spoiled, arrogant, dick-headed, brash, dimwitted, trashy and petulant fans they really are; basically The Evil Empire/yanks of the west.
I fucking despise the hated fucking dojers and revel being based at LAX with SWA for work (live in Austin) whilst sporting my Houston Astros Baseball Club accoutrements when possible.
Besides, living rent free in their collective little noggins is immeasurable.
Ohtani just plastered the ball off Cole to deep CF. Angels up 3-2 on the Yankees in B6.
ETA:
LAAA hangs on for the win and takes 2 of 3 in the series. Yankees went 10-18 in August.
5 games up.
3 common opponents will have a lot to say how the Yankees and Astros finish. Rays (6), Orioles (3) and Rangers (4) with 13 games against the Evil Empire. Those same 3 clubs also with 13 games against the Good Guys – Rays (6), Orioles (4) and Rangers (3).
FWIW, Astros will have 18 games at home while NYY will have 16.
This is really cool data. Thanks Walt!
I’m watching the Yankees@Rays game, and even YES announcers are calling out the Yankees hitters. You hate to see it.
per the the Stros broadcast, Yankees just had their worst month since 1991
The Yankees are now closer to the Mariners than to the Astros.
Thoughts and prayers.
Attaboy
And the Rays and Jays are stalking them hard, 5 and 7 games back in the East, respectively.
