Tigers and Mariners are only a 1 game up tonight, right?

Detroit has one more win and one less loss. Mariners have same record as Astros.

Getting the second seed is the Astros’ best chance of making the WS. They would greatly benefit from the first round bye.

This weekend series versus Seattle is critical in the race for the division and the number two seed. Seattle for obvious reasons, but Detroit plays Atlanta at home this weekend, so they stand a good chance of winning at least two out of three.

However, next week, the Tigers finish on the road against red-hot Cleveland and Boston while the Astros are in Sacramento and Anaheim.

Do NOT overlook Sacramento.

In 2025 to date, Astros are 4-6 vs A’s, and 6-4 vs Angels.

One of my favorite non-sequiturs from the whole series.

Well, at least we’ll have Brown, Framber and Alexander set up for Seattle series and all on full rest. Hindsight now, but gotta give org some love for making the decision they did. Many wanted Brown moved up a day prior to ATL start and go on 4 days rest in that series and then on 4 days rest again last game in TX series.

I’m not. The A’s have played well after the All-Star Break.

Against the red hot Athletics.

Since when is 4 days not full rest?

I know, it used to be you pitch every 5th day. I have no idea when that shifted but it has.

One of the two runs that Seattle scored today was based at least in part on them challenging an out that was made, 4-3…. and winning it saying that the infielder did not have both feet on the dirt per rules. Runner was awarded first base and later scored on a double.

Isn’t Manfred ball great?

Because the second baseman’s heels were barely touching grass. Yeah, I guess it’s technically a violation, but that sucks. Also, does this mean Seattle has someone who’s responsible for watching for that on every play? Do the Astros?

I’m guessing they do and probably have for sometime. Probably just took a while before it actually happened. If you think about it most the guys probably follow the rules and even if they barely miss like happened in this case, the ball actually still has to get hit to that player for it to matter.

It’s clearly protecting their arms well.

The Tigers have lost the first two with the Braves, so they have 70 losses and have dropped to the third seed in the American League.
