Scoreboard watching 2025

Guardians and Tigers lose.

Currently 0.5 behind DET and 0.5 ahead of CLE.

Just win, baby

Tigers have to play both the Guardians and the Red Sox. Guardians also have to play the Tigers and the Rangers. Red Sox have to play the Tigers and the BJs. Someone has to lose those games. It remains to be aeen, however, if the Astros can win again this season.

I’m taking the “under” on the Astros.

Under 0.5 on runs scored looks like a good bet

Just because it looks increasingly relevant:

BOS, DET, and CLE all own tiebreakers over Houston.

Tigers up 2-0 on Guardians, B6. With a runner on first, CLE just bunted and Skubal tried to throw the ball between his legs like a shotgun snap. (Friends, it did not work.) Another infield hit, and the Guardians score a run without the ball passing the pitcher’s mound.

Best outcome of this series for the Astros would be a DET sweep. Worst is CLE 2-1.

BOS currently up on TOR 1-0. Need BOS to lose every game we can.

Stephen Fry for CLE squared to bat and got hit in the face. Apparently the ball glanced off his bat so he didn’t get the full impact like it looked initially, but he’s taken off on the cart.

That was ugly. Fastball right between the eyes. As Skubal throws a wild pitch to plate the tying run

Now three runs without the ball leaving the infield.

And a balk moves the go ahead runner to 3B. Skubal has just come unglued this inning

Now a slow chopper puts the Guardians ahead. Three runs without hitting the ball out of the infield.

On September 11th the Tigers had a 10-game lead. They are on the verge of blowing that lead in 12 days.

All 3 runs scored as a direct result of Skubal’s actions - error, wild pitch, balk. Won’t hurt his ERA though because only 1 run was earned.

Too bad, Brown may have gotten a few extra Cy Young votes if they had all been earned.

The sequence was bunt single, sac bunt error moving the runners to 2nd and 3rd, chopped infield single scores a run, bunt foul into Fry’s face, wild pitch scores a run. Runner on second with 1 out, balk, FC scores a run, strikeout. 3 runs on 2 hits without a ball leaving the infield and only 1 that even reached the infield dirt. One of the wilder sequence of events you’ll see

In other scoreboard watching…the Jays and BoSox are tied in the 5th. The Tigers travel to Boston after their series in Cleveland.

Gausman just balked a runner to 3B and Bregman at the plate. Blue Jays announcer says “he didn’t want Story at 3B, Bregman is one of the best when he knows what’s coming”. I honestly don’t think it was throwing shade.

CLE tack on two in the 7th off the DET bullpen, now 5-2.

Positively Metsian.

On that date, they had the best record in baseball.
