They will also be the 1042 and 1043rd players in Astros history.
It feels like just yesterday I was watching to see who would be #1000. If memory serves it was Ben Gamel.

Can we get Aunt Esther to handle the mound visits?
That was my “Colin McWho?” moment of the day.
“Damn, Damn, Damn!”
You big dummy.
Altuve is back, somehow. Dezenzo optioned
Apparently I missed that Wade suffered a “significant hamstring strain” and Loperfido is back?
Yep, did it just prior to rounding first on his way to 2B on a double. When I saw it happen I cranked up the Tom Hanks laugh from Money Pit.
Raynel Delgado called up and Whitcomb optioned
Reinstated from IL: Hunter Brown, Yainer Diaz
Optioned to AAA: Collin Price
DFA: Jayden Murray
That all sounds about right
Hopefully Yanier remembered how to hit while he was away from action.
He didn’t swing at any bad pitches while on the IL.
That’s a start.
He went 2-11 during his 3G rehab stint, for whatever that’s worth, which pretty much nothing
Vazquez can’t catch every day and [Diaz is] the only other remotely close to MLB caliber catcher they have. Oh boy, that sentence is fun to type.
I will say Vasquez did a better job of handling the pitching staff. Instead of a 10 era, I believe it’s around a 5 now.

I’m conflicted over this, not that it surprises me at all.
With the state of the 2026 Smerican League it makes no sense to sell or give up. But this team is very top heavy and only has 5-6 truly impact players. 1 major injury and they simply have no chance.
I agree lefty hitting OF who is a big upgrade over Loperfido, Trammell, Wade, and Cole must be the priority.
But I would make a starter who could slide in at #2 the next priority above the bullpen. I think they have about half a dozen OK options for #4-6 starter but no #2 or #3.
They probably just realize the cost of guys like Freddy Peralta much less Joe Ryan ir Sandy Alcantara who have control. So they are stuck hoping 1 or 2 if the current young guys can step up.
Bryan Abreu has been placed on the restricted list. Logan VanWey called up from AAA. No details yet on what’s up, but it’s not necessarily anything bad: a quick search shows recent placements on the restricted list have included a guy taking an extra day for paternity and Will Wagner taking a couple days to attend his dad’s HOF induction. All it actually means is the player is unavailable for reasons other than those for which a formal excuse exists. Of course, other recent placements have included Carmen Mlodzinski refusing to pitch out of the bullpen after getting bumped from the Pirates’ rotation, and cases like that.
