Roster Moves 2026

Dezenzo should be platooning with someone in Sugar Land.

I wasn’t saying they were. I was saying Varsho was an improvement over M, M & D’s OPS and over Trammell’s defense.

The chart and the “WAR” suggests Trammell is the weakest of those four guys. He’s not. He’s probably the best.

Differences in tenths of WAR are pretty meaningless.

FWIW, FanGraphs isn’t as sour on Trammell’s defense, putting him ahead of all the others. But again, by tenths of a win.

That’s what my eyes tell me. No matter what the stats say.

Any stat that doesn’t say Taylor Trammell is worth five Zach Dezenzos is pretty worthless.

Ain’t that the truth. He is our best hope.

I was wrong about Ray. The Astros face him tomorrow night.

Meyers up, Dezenzo down

Astros claim OF Nelson Velázquez off waivers from STL. Shay Whitcomb DFA.

Velazquez clears the bar of “better than Zach Dezenzo” as a right-handed option in LF, I guess, but otherwise doesn’t look terribly exciting.

He’s a guy who hits the ball hard if he happens to make contact

We have quite a few of those guys

Just keep shuffling and hope you catch a hot streak with one of them. It’s all they can really do at this point

… said every major league team as they set new records for Ks in a season.

Velasquez activated, Meyers optioned

Assuming he gets into a game, he would be the 56th player used this season, 4 shy of the Astros record.

Shockingly, the Astros are currently tied for 5th in most players this season.

Mets - 60
Braves - 58
Cubs - 58
A’s - 56
Astros, White Sox, Angels and Blue Jays - 55

The record is 70 btw, Marlins in 24 and Orioles in 25.

Nobody but me likely cares but I do find it interesting

I don’t care about breaking records but I’m all in for setting records.

Blanco optioned, Ullola called up. Ethan Pecko was also scratched from his start today for Sugar Land and figures to get called up for Tuesday or Wednesday’s game.
