Why even try then? Just trade everyone and lose 100 games if you’re so afraid of the Dodgers. The 2019 Astros are as good or better than this Dodgers team and they lost to the fucking Nationals. The Blue Jays took the Dodgers to 7 last year and should have beat them. Anything can happen when you step between the lines.

Back to back to back meetings. Have not read this thread. But, popping in here to say that I hate this trade.
That’s my point. You seem to think the team HAD to make a trade for a big name or else they won’t be competitive. You can have all of the big names you want but at the end of the day all that matters is who gets hot at the right time.

The thing is, I never said a big name. They literally did not add anybody for the staff, big name, small name, no name, nobody. So now you better hope Blanco, Wesneski, Javier are good.
2026 stat comparison of Varsho to others who have played CF this year. He is an upgrade- 95 or more points of OPS over Meyers, Matthews and Dezenzo and improves defense over Trammell in CF

I’m having a really hard time seeing how Matthews and Dezenzo are both considered an upgrade from Trammell.
The stats don’t like Trammell’s defense in CF. I think he is plenty good out there, and obviously he’ll be an asset in left with Varsho taking over CF.

My eyes don’t like Matthews’ and Dezenzo’s offense nor really their defense either. I’d take Trammell over either of those guys every day and twice on Sundays. To suggest that he’s measurably worse than either of those guys is just ludicrous IMO.

I think Matthew’s is pretty darn good in CF. But he’d have to be the love child of Andruw Jones and Willie Mays to be a benefit.
(And I think we’ve got just about enough evidence to say Dezenzo isn’t a major leaguer)
At the absolute most, Dezenzo should be the weak side of a LF platoon with Trammell. And that should really just be at home since Matthews can seemingly hit a little when he’s not playing at Daikin.
