Who are The Ones To Watch?
The ones with titanium elbows.
Truth
I will try to do a thread in the bus ride for this soon.
Janek and Cole for sure.
I’m very interested in watching Janek’s development
If he develops as expected it will be interesting to see what role Yanier would have going forward. Obviously he could share the position but they would probably want his bat in the lineup most days.
His role would be “trade”
If things work out.
Brito is one of the best pitchers in the system. Gillis and Hicks were late round picks who are developing way above their pay grade. Janek was the first round pick last year who’s putting together a pretty decent season in the lower levels. Cole has some loud tools, but has an absurd 35% K rate to go with them in AAA. Williams may be one of the fastest players in the system (and also has a bit of power); believe he was injured last year but is putting together a good season AA.
I wonder if he could play 1B on a daily basis.

Tell him, Wash
“it’s incredibly difficult”
Wow, McTaggart says Zach Cole is getting called up to the bigs. No word on a corresponding move yet. Very cool for him.
From MLB.com’s profile:
If he can make consistent contact, Cole has the tools to be a star. He has plus speed and basestealing savvy, giving him legitimate 30-30 upside. After playing mostly left field at Ball State, he has become a quality defender in center as a pro. He also comes with double-plus arm strength and has notched 22 assists in 177 career starts in the outfield.
“Double-plus arm strength” would be unheard of in this OF.
On the other hand, the hit tool of 35 is a pretty incredible inability to make contact.
You beat me to it.
Frick’n love it! This was what I was hoping for when I brought him up within the Bus Ride a week or so ago. It reminds me of when the Strangers brought up Evan Carter a couple years back. Might be a long shot to work but this team needs a spark and you never know. Right now the young man has probably never been more confident at the plate in his life based on how he’s been playing at AAA. Confidence is more than half the battle. Hoping he’s in the lineup on Saturday as I’ll be in attendance.
Pretty sure they made this call while still shaking their heads from watching Sanchez last night.
If he can make consistent contact he’s already the best hitter on this team. I have my doubts.
