Roster Moves 2025

Super nice of the Astros to give us Walking Dead fans a fun spinoff series involving a baseball team.

With McCullers on the DL, don’t they need Alexander up with the big team?

Alexander was a 6th starter on the roster and they are off the next two Mondays. So I guess just going with 5 for the next little bit

Plus, do the rules say that he must stay in AAA for some many days? Just wondering why they couldn’t bring him back up next week if needed. In the mean time they brought up another arm (Nick H) to help the pen.

I think has to stay down 10 days barring injury at a comparable position. 10 days is about the half-life of an Astros starter.

He’s a first baseman with some power. It seems like he’d be limited to first or DH. Right handed bat.

Or insurance for Walker? I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Walker has been patiently working through some nagging injury this season.

Could also just be to fill out the numbers at AAA. They’ve had to promote quite a few guys recently

Some injury updates from Matt Kawahara:

  • Cristian Javier threw 20 pitches today with no issues in his first live BP since Tommy John surgery, per Joe Espada. He said Javier was up to 95 mph.
  • Luis Garcia could throw a live BP next week.
  • Chas McCormick likely to face live pitching next week in Florida
  • Yordan Alvarez and Zach Dezenzo are still not hitting
  • J.P. France slated to throw his third live BP tomorrow

Did Arrighetti’s thumb get knocked completely off?

Didn’t they amputate his hand completely? Just to be sure?

Civil war style. Up to the elbow

Made him bite on a stick while they amputated.

The Stros have signed Jon Singleton to a minor league contract.

In case you were wondering what the FO thinks about the bench and 1B situation.

Although he has a great bat flip, I hope it doesn’t come to playing him at 1st or DH.

I agree, but 'ole Jon has proven to have the ability to give you a quality AB off the bench. He had a .921 OPS over 27 pinch hit PA’s in '24.

That might prove to be handy down the stretch.

I agree Jon is not perfect and his lack of defensive ability and versatiliry ( not to mention baserunning) limits the roster.

But the rules allow you to have 13 players and they have been playing with 11.

So how can it hurt?

Singelton is not a bad defensive first baseman.
