Astros activate Taylor Trammell and send Shay back down.
ETA: Apparently he’s been playing ball in the minors. Tore it up for a bit in the FCL for 5 games and has played 7 at Sugarland struggling but walking more than he has struckout. Can’t be worse than Hummel.
That said. The Astros clearly have a culture of winning. As I have said before elsewhere here, I think that comes from the top, Jim Crane. But, I see evidence that key contributors are retained that support that culture. Altuve is a perfect example. He makes crazy base running blunders. His pitch selection is sub optimal, but, his quiet and strong leadership in the clubhouse is unmistakable. The Astros hemorrhage talent on the field and in the front office like crazy. That is actually pretty normal for high-performing organizations of any type. But, the few key members that sustain culture are critical. And the Astros appear to be good at 1) keeping those few good components in the short-ish term and 2) passing the baton to the nextgen in the longer term.
There will be a breaking point with all of these injuries. It’s cool they’re in 1st place right now, but either they start getting folks back, and they stick, or they start wheeling and dealing at the deadline. I personally don’t think this current roster can sustain this pace.
ETA: they need a legit starting pitcher, an impact bat, and an impact reliever. That’s a hefty list. But maybe Yordan plays again this decade, maybe Areghetti comes back and doesn’t suck. Maybe someone steps in for Dubin. We’ll see.
[Quote] Players have said there is an unspoken understanding that anyone who walks in is immediately accepted. There are few rules but an expectation to work hard and put the team (and maybe each other) first.

I actually have wondered how much of the successful current culture stems all the way back to Biggio & Bagwell. They have both stayed involved with team since they have been retired.
