We did. Everyone had a citrus tree or two. Groves everywhere and you could load up if you wanted. They’ve pretty well disappeared since my youth.

Same thing happened in Orange County where my friend Connor grew up. He’s about my age, so most of the groves were gone when he was a kid but apparently there were still quite a few when he was a kid.
