I will fault him for his love affair with Jon Singleton and not having a good insurance policy behind Jose Abreu. Brandon Belt is a clear free agent upgrade. So is Donovan Solano. Joey Loperfido is a better internal option.

My hope with Singleton is that they are giving him one last shot and his release is imminent. Of course, he’s an easy target and far from the real problem with this team right now.

He’s far from the only problem, but let’s not act like he’s not a big one. With Abreu being terrible, he’s playing far more than he should, and, even worse, Espada is slotting him into run producing positions in the order.
There was no excuse to bat him ahead of Peña, Dubon and Meyers tonight.
