Punishments are official

So, if the Astros had won game 7 was this interview still going to air today? If so, there are not enough expletives in the English language to express my feelings.

I suspect Lunhow has rehearsed this ad nauseum and fully expects to have exonerated himself by the end of the interview.

And I fully expect him to get ripped to bloody shreds in both social and mainstream media.

I fully suspect that the Astros lost Game 7 BECAUSE of this interview being scheduled. He knows know bounds when it comes to generating bad juju among the BBGs. I seriously wish he’s just shut the fuck up and move on.

KPRC can join Lunhow in hell for agreeing to interview him as the team was in the midst of a deep playoff run. I’d expect garbage like this from national media, but to have it come from a Houston-area TV station is disgusting.

Full Luhnow interview. I don’t know… He makes a compelling case that he didn’t know shit. I find that difficult to believe.

He also mentions he’s interested in NFL/NBA opportunities. Seem there’s a couple of those in town right now.

I mean he says he has all these texts and prove him innocent but unless they end up released then we just have to take him at his word? I still find it very hard to believe that someone so thorough, that had his hands on everything that had to do with the organization, didn’t at least suspect something was happening. Maybe he didn’t “know” but I fully believe he at least turned a blind eye to it.

If you don’t have time for the full video, here’s the Chronicle’s recap:

Thanks.

Two things missing from the piece. I’m not going to watch the interview, so someone more patient than me let me know if they were included:

  1. Did Luhnow comment on receiving the memo from the league but not forwarding it to or discussing it with to the coaches/players?
  2. Did Luhnow acknowledge that the league in that memo said it would hold GM’s responsible for this type of behavior?

He did not mention the memo.

Considering it provided the basis for both his suspension and his firing, I’d say that’s a pretty glaring oversight.

Bullshit, Jeff

How so? It seems pretty relevant to me that the stated punishment before hand was that he GM would take responsibility for the teams action, which is in the memo. And my understanding (which might just be the result of our repeating it to each other) is that he was fired because Crane told him to make sure the team knew about the memo and he didn’t follow those instructions. Everything about his repercussions, which I assume is what he’s complaining is unfair, flows from the memo.

Again, I’ve only read the chronicle’s article about the interview and not watched it, so my perspective may be off.

I think that “bullshit” was directed towards Jeff Luhnow, not Jeff, AKA Bench.

Of course, I could be wrong also.

I wondered that too.

Luhnow is either lying, or woefully inadequate in his supervision of baseball ops. Either way, he deserves to lose his job.

Oh, good grief. Bullshit, Jeff LUHNOW.

Thanks for that link.

He came across as whiny and tone deaf as I thought he would.

100% believe that power brokers on other teams wanted him specifically to go down.

Also 100% believe he had a major hand in creating that environment with all those awful people who maliciously withheld info from him.

He thinks interviews like that will somehow make him seem more likable and/or employable? He needs better friends and/or advisors.

That should be obvious by the decisions made after the Taubman incident.

He’ll be employed again. He will be a GM in baseball again, if he wants. Not this year, but soon enough.

Hinch, on the other hand…teams are lining up to hire him.
