I for one admire the way Alex Cora turned over a new leaf as soon as he moved to a major media market and set out to ensure that no one but a rogue employee could implement the sign stealing schemes he organized in Houston. It’s a real redemption story.
I learned this from MLB Network just in time to hear Justice explain that the Astros were much worse, much different. What the Red Sox did is what all teams try to do. Then they immediately went into the rehash of the Astros scandal to change the subject. So, the Red Sox situation is just an opportunity to bring up Astros again. Red Sox, not a big deal.
This cannot possibly be a surprise to anyone. Mandred knows on which side his bread is buttered. They’re the Boston freakin’ Red Sox, fercryinoutloud. He cannot hammer them. Period.
Just because it’s expected doesn’t mean it’s not disappointing.
I guess I have a different definition of “disappointment”. I never expected the Red Sox would get any sort of punishment. In fact, I’m a little surprised Manfred even followed through on this at all.

This is exactly what I expected. Red Sox players weren’t forced to cooperate like the Astros were forced to do. So they lied and denied. Its a fucking joke.

The Astros players told the truth under the guise of immunity. After the Red Sox players saw the backlash the Astros players were getting in the court of “the east coast media driven” public opinion, they all said fuck it and lied their asses off.

The report is pretty embarrassing. He goes out of his way to mention, in defense of the Red Sox, that their scheme would fail if the other team changed their signs.

Fuck Cora. “2017 Astros conduct was unacceptable.” Nothing about Boston. He accepts his punishment for 2017 with Houston.
The whitewash for NYY and Boston is complete. Not sure when I’ll come back to MLB. We were Champions in 2017. Fuck MLB.
