I used to relish the quite early mornings sipping coffee and reading the paper. Then the deliveries started coming later and later. eventually it would get to me before I left in the morning for work, so I cancelled. I currently subscribe to the local New Braunfels paper, although, I’ve got not good reason why.
The Johnson City paper is largely worthless, but it costs nothing to get it so we do and support it. The Daily Trib in Marble Falls is better, but it sure doesn’t take long to read either of them, maybe half a cup of coffee (assuming you save it from the afternoon before and read it the next morning)
I think the same thing is in all the New York papers.

LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers’ 8-7 victory over the Yankees in Game 5 for their eighth World Series title and second in five years averaged 18.6 million viewers on Fox, Fox Deportes and streaming, according to Nielsen.
Don't read this part unless you want PTSD
That is the most-watched game in the Fall Classic since Game 7 in 2019 when the Washington Nationals’ victory over the Houston Astros averaged 23.22 million.
The series averaged 15.81 million, its best performance since 2017 when Houston’s victory over the Dodgers in seven games averaged 18.93 million.
Its also quite a turnaround from last year, when the Texas Rangers;’ title over the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games averaged a record-low 9.11 million.

How much is the Statesman online subscription? The Express-News is nearly $28/month, but if you call them and bitch about it, they knock it down to under $10. I don’t mind the $28 because I really want to support journalism (the weekly food / arts section), but I don’t want to be reading about spring wildflowers the day after North Korea bombs New Hampshire.
For the Chronicle, we get online access and delivery of the Sunday paper, and it’s nearly $50 per month. I miss the daily delivery, but it’s somewhere north of $80 per month.
I also miss the Houston Post.
Also trying to support local journalism. I pay $17.00 a month for the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung, online and Tuesday through Saturday deliveries.
Except the score was 7-6
The Statesman is $90+/mo for daily delivery, and while I feel like it’s a civic duty to support local journalism, I’m probably going to switch to electronic delivery only and save a few hundred dollars a year.
I pay $19/month for the e-Statesman subscription here in Austin.
How do you light your charcoal grill without a physical newspaper?
I imagine all the methane that comes off any Kirk Bohls e-article still works fine.

You are the very model of a modern major general.
The Napa Valley Register is a fairly decent local newspaper. The winery has a daily print subscription, so I cheat and read that instead of having my own.
The St. Helena Star, however, is known for printing yesterday’s news tomorrow (SH is the closest town to the winery).
I’d have to go look, but these guys all say 20ish.
If you like reading Texas-related stuff, check out the Texas Tribune and Texas Monthly online.
If you’re in a charitable mood, Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine is $15ish a year (monthly mag) and the money actually goes to the parks department.
Back to baseball, Cole tells us about The Play:
“I took a bad angle to the ball. I wasn’t sure how hard he hit it,” Cole said. “By the time the ball got by me, I was not in a position to cover first. Neither of us were.”
Not in a position to cover? I guess not; you stopped running.
Run from mound to base = in position
“I ran the wrong direction. And then I stopped running and pointed in the right direction.”
