Postseason 2020

I will definitely keep the door open to lifting the boycott.

He’s a fan with a good schtick, good baseball knowledge, and an entertaining YouTube channel. He’s doesn’t claim to be a journalist, unlike those others you named.

But the buzzer thing turned into a written in stone truth for many idiots. Shouldn’t bother me, but it did/does.

If/when more comes out about other teams I’ll likely see what he has to offer.

Meanwhile I’m circling my wagon.

It’s not cute, but seriously, he can go fuck himself. And it has zero to do with his being a Yankee fan.

Yeah, and Trump doesn’t claim to be a politician. That doesn’t excuse his being a lying sack of shit either.

Jomboy contributed to the trash can narrative and Altuve was the primary target. It is possible this affected his entire season. An obese man warring from his mom’s laptop in her basement does not deserve understanding nor sympathy. He made our season harder than it was already, and established media used his material

In on field news, I’ll let the more knowledgeable & “obsessed” chime in on the merits of these guys:

Jomboy does not need me to defend him, and I will not try, but your characterizations of him and his business operation are both unfair and untrue. He has done plenty of things I do not like, but he has taken his social media beginnings to an office in NYC, 12-14 employees, and plenty of outside financing not named Mommy. My admiration for his success would be unqualified were it not for his attacks on the Astros.

Probably Manfred. Whom I despise more than some idiot named Jomboy.

Good for Jomboy. Now he can fuck himself.

McCormick off, DeJong on for the ALCS

Interesting.

Thought Cionel might get the spot but it’s not as though either was tearing it up.

I liked Click’s assessment of playing the Rays: on a scale of zero to weird, it’s weird.

C.Rome posited that it’s because DeJong is stretched out and can go multiple innings…I’m assuming that’s in a 10-run game

That is a pretty veteran crew that is missing most of the biggest assholes in umpiring, so that’s a win.

For interest’s sake, here are each of their last game behind the plate:

Lance Barksdale - https://twitter.com/UmpScorecards/status/1305221323702956032 (the last game I could find him HPU was in mid September, weird)

Manny Gonzelez called game 2 in the Twins/Astros series and wasn’t particularly good, but has a solid reputation.

Barksdale umped the 2019 World Series and was the HPU for Game 5 that involved some really questionable ball and strike calls that Nationals fans especially were up in arms about.

John Tumpane is the umpire who famously saved a woman from committing suicide on one of the bridges while out for a jog in Pittsburg a few years ago. Also, the Yankees absolutely despise him, so he much be doing something right: https://larrybrownsports.com/baseball/video-aaron-boone-umpire-john-tumpane/564407

Ted Barrett is just an all-around interesting dude: https://www.thenationalpastimemuseum.com/article/reverend-doctor-crew-chief-ted-barrett-major-league-umpire

Jeff Nelson umped the 2019 ALCS against the Yankees and got a concussion while umping game 3: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27854082/plate-umpire-jeff-nelson-leaves-alcs-game-3-suffering-concussion

Scouting Report on the ump crew? Outstanding.

Gonna go out on a limb and say Manny Gonzalez sucks ass.

His most egregious calls all came against Altuve. Some were just inexplicable.

He was pretty consistent with the low pitches.

He egregiously missed some pitches but I did not think he was all that bad overall. Waiting for Mark’s report card.

On Yuli:

I still have not read one word about an injury except here. As I said before, I saw his swing from the side once in a replay, and I thought he was pushing the bat through the swing with his right hand. That suggests a left hand/wrist injury to me which would make him unable to yank/drive his top hand into the ball to stay on top of it and to drive it. What we have seen lately (last night!) are weak infield popups and medium speed grounders/chops which have little chance to get through. He is a perfect DP rally-killer for opponents at the present time.

At the very least, I think Baker should consider dropping him down in the lineup and think about a PH in a crucial situation. As several said in Zoom last night, the PH options are limited because the bench is weak.

Toro is on the roster for this series.

Most importantly, IMO, their 2 runs had nothing to do with poorly called pitches.

Framber left a FB over the plate and he walked a leadoff hitter that they small balled around to score.

That second run is entirely on Neil.

Mea culpa. I’ve taken a vow of silence for the rest of the series.
