Having no days off because of no travel is not, in and of itself, stupid. Announcing it beyond the trade deadline, when it changes the whole calculus of your roster, was asinine.
This is a more artful observation than how I put it. My point is that teams arenât set up for this (acknowledging of course there are plenty of times in the regular season where teams play seven plus consecutive games). Are there extra roster spots for the 7 game series?
The postseason has always been a way different test than the regular season, even before divisional play began.
Looking forward I wouldnât mind a wc round similar to this one, but Iâd prefer a bye system. If a team dominates 162 games then a 3 game set seems pretty crappy. But it certainly was exciting.
Roster rules are the same as the regular season. Expanded active roster of 28 plus 5 on the taxi squad that can replace a guy. Itâs quite an expansion from the normal postseason roster rules.
As for days offâŚthere are off days before and between each round. The World Series will have the standard off days. I donât think itâs particularly cruel to have to potentially play 12 games in 13 days.
I think the LDS, LCS, WS format as is, should be maintained. I wouldnt mind going to this no days off either, but thats not going to happen once home parks are back in play.
The problem is that adding more teams means that division winners start to get knocked out of automatic spots in the LDS as you add teams and thatâd be a shame, especially forcing them to play short series. Honestly, if they want to add more teams, what I would probably do is have WC1 host some kind of college regional style playoff with WC 2-4 double headers and all.
Seven games in seven days in a best of series requires a whole different strategic approach than just any random seven game stretch in the regular season. I love it too.
Playoff baseball is a different animal. Every AB, every pitch, every play, every decision is magnified. I think there is no greater challenge and no greater fun than coaching/managing a playoff game.
I searched the GZ and TZ and only found one comment in the GZ about it, but no answer. Who in the hell was the âcelebrity voiceâ that was being impersonated in that gawd-awful Gallery Furniture commercial they played over and over for the past four games? It was all about Dodger Stadium (and the sign in center, obviously), but for the life of me I couldnât figure out who the voice was supposed to be. Any idea?
