I think Denver v Miami instead of Lakers-Celtics would be great

Possibly the biggest screwjob in NBA history

Suck it, Lakers.

Looking up.

That big ass center for Denver, Nik Jokic, is pretty good.

The Stars take an early lead in the first few minutes. Currently lead 1-0 with 10:35 left in the first as Vegas starts a 2 minute 5 on 3 power play.

Right away the Golden Knights tie it up.

With the Premier League well into the vinegar strokes, it’s time to see where we stand.

City has secured the title, and Arsenal will finish 2nd, setting an all-time record for the English top flight for the number of days in 1st place (248) without actually winning it. Newcastle and Man Utd are likely to wrap up the other two Champions League slots with their midweek catch-up fixtures against Leicester and Chelsea respectively.

Liverpool is safe in 5th place but can, in theory, leapfrog Utd if they win their last game (at Southampton) and Utd lose both theirs (Chelsea and Fulham). 5th place gets you into the Europa League, but qualification into European competitions may extend down to 7th, depending on who wins the Champions League and FA Cup.

At the bottom, Southampton has been long gone for a while, but officially so as of last week. Three other teams are fighting now to be the one to avoid joining Southampton in the Championship next season. Everton (33pts, -24GD), Leeds (31pts, -27GD) and Leicester (30pts, -18GD).

Barring a miracle for Leicester on Monday - unlikely as Newcastle need the points to secure a CL place - basically whichever team wins next Sunday will be the one to stay up. Of the three, Leicester arguably has the softest draw, as they are at home to West Ham, who will be looking towards their own Europa Conference final and likely to run out the reserves.

In a weird quirk, all three relegation-threatened teams are at home for their last game. Bournemouth isn’t going to match Everton’s intensity/pitch invasions, but what are Spurs going to show up with in Leicester? Spurs has a chance to finish 7th if they win and Villa falters, which might get them into the Europa Conference, but it’s a long shot and they’re playing like shit right now (one win in 7).

So, while it’s true that if only one team wins it will be they who stay up, in reality, all three have an excellent chance to win. So it’s going to be the teams who don’t win that are going down. My prediction, though, is that all three win and the positions don’t change. Everton survives (again) and we waive buh-bye to Leeds and Leicester.

ETA: Crystal Palace are guaranteed at worse 12th. We’re currently 11th though, and can stay there if Chelsea faceplant their remaining games vs. Man Utd and Newcastle.

7th is guaranteed to be in the Europa Confrence, since both Man City and Man United are the teams playing in the FA Cup final and both have already qualified for Europe

F’kin Brighton.

Highlights of the Sheffield Wednesday - Peterborough madness.

Vegas scores a minute and 15 seconds in overtime to win 3-2.

The Stars have been terrible in OT all season.

At least they didn’t drag it out.

On the plus side, it appears the Rockets’ new coach actually made a significant difference for the Celtics.

On the down side, he’s probably still a pretty crummy guy.

When intentional walks go wrong:

Oof, that is tough to watch.

Still irked that they do not require the delivery of four balls to effect this in MLB. Maybe allow the “four fingers” walk if no one’s on base (but then, why would you?), but allowing it with runners aboard is denying them the opportunity to advance on an error or by stealing a base.

It’s almost like awarding a penalty goal in soccer, instead of making them go through the process of actually taking the kick.

Same thing happened to Baylor Baseball in the 2001 Regional at Rice.

Baylor led 4-2 going to B9 against Rice in the championship game. Rice had runners on 2nd & 3rd, down one, with one out. Baylor was trying for an IBB to set up the double play – but the wild pitch let the tying run score. Next batter got a hit to win it.
