Russell Westbrook hanging ‘em up. Not sure how he rates against the all-time greats, but I liked him a lot.
People are talking about putting him in the HOF. He was a decent player, but HOF? Not in my book.
I had to look his stuff up using incognito mode because I don’t want Google to think I like him.
Some bullet points:
Averaged a triple double in 4 seasons
League MVP in 2017
2 time scoring leader
3 time assists leader
9 time all star
All time leader in career triple doubles
I’ve always found him unlikable from a personality standpoint but he’s a lock for the HoF.
Basketball-reference has him as a 99.9% lock for the Hall of Fame.

Well, that’s certainly better than I remembered him, and those are HOF numbers, so I was clearly wrong. I guess I’m biased by his annoying personality and seeming selfishness on the court.
Yeah, not really Mr Personality, but he was a gritty fucker that never gave up. As for HOF, they put Yao Ming and his club foot in so Westbrook should get a place.

i wasn’t aware he had a personality. It’s hard for me to see him as a selfish player when he is 5th all-time assists. He is a freak athlete. But yeah, for all the skills and statistics, he never won a championship. Those OKC teams lead by him and Durant along with Harden were loaded with talent but had a flawed chemistry that has followed those three everywhere they go. None of the three mix well. They lack the intrinsic synergistic quality that champions provide. Funny how all three also played for the Rockets.
If you think Harold Baines lowered the standards for HOF you should look at the NBA. Everybody gets in.

And while he’s absolutely in the hall, I put him in the same category as Harden: how can I consider you an all time great when so many teams decided they were better off without you?
