I need to go back to Belize, and the Casco Antiguo of Panama City. Assuming they’re still somewhat the same 15 years later.

Well, the Casco Antiguo is not EXACTLY like it was 15 years ago. Nor is Panama City in general. Mostly changes for the better.

Preservation, not development?

Both, I guess. In the Casco Viejo a lot of facades were maintained with new construction behind. In the rest of the city there’s not a ton to preserve, at least where the new construction is concentrated.

The Colombians are partying in Mexico City tonight. That could be fun.

Looking forward to Mexico vs South Korea tonight at 8pm.

Apparently Koreatown in LA is also heavily Hispanic and many folks there are partying together and rooting for a tie.

Koreatown is gooder’n hell. LA’s subway has a stop right there (yes, LA has a subway as well as a shockingly clean and friendly streetcar network), which means that it’s easy pickins for my son and me. My son likes it for the abundant Korean fried chicken and ice cream, not necessarily in that order. And one of my favorite places in LA is a bar/restaurant that I’ve mentioned before, Toe Bang. I like the name, I like the atmosphere, and I like that they give you snacks with your beer.

Anyway, why can’t we all just get along?

Well duh.

Anyone who watched the documentary “Speed” knows that.

What a save by the Mexico goalie in the 87th minute!

Well, that’s not a classic of cinema with which I am overly familiar.

When I see “Speed” and “documentary” in the same sentence I think immediately of Speed Levitch and the incredible documentary film The Cruise.

The opening is unforgettable:

The whole thing is unforgettable, really.

But could he make his bus fly like this:

USA up 2-0 over Australia at the half

Interesting game. Contrast of styles, Aussie playing by Aussie Football rules, both US goals were not what you’d call beautiful.

Toe Bang is the shit! Glad it’s still going.
