Just watched a replay of the game. What an incredible match. Never seen a man with an equalizing hat trick look so disappointed with a tie. Mateta is an amazing player.
Also, Richards looked exhausted.
So he’s playing in 3 different competitions on two different teams (premier, uefa conference, and fifa)? Are there players playing in even more.

I am a little gobsmacked by how much soccer there is, and how many different competitions there are. Enjoying watching it.

Fixtures really pile up for international players on successful teams. Big clubs are able to rest players more regularly than the likes of Palace, so Richards is simply going to get less rest than an equivalent playing for Citeh or Liverpool.

Palace itself is currently in FOUR competitions: EPL, UECL, Carabao Cup and (coming in January) the FA Cup. Starting Thursday, the club has 4 games in 9 days across the three active competitions, which is insane.

Richards’ international duties mean he has longer journeys than most to/from such games - Muñoz and Lerma both play for Colombia so they have similar issues. Hopefully Palace can rotate its small squad a little bit - the Carabao Cup away to Liverpool is likely to be a complete throwaway game - and bring in reinforcements in January.

Mateta’s scorecard from the Bournemouth game is mental.

The Rockets’ starting 5 tonight is the tallest average lineup since the NBA started tracking starts back in the 70’s. Average height: 6’10.5"

Wow! Hell of a game. 115-115. Second overtime coming up.

And the Thunder take the win, 125-124.

Spurs get the most lopsided 0-0 draw I’ve ever seen. Monaco was by far the better side, and the only reason it wasn’t 3-0 or 4-0 was because of outstanding goalkeeping by the Spurs’ keeper.

The Spurs demolished the Mavericks 125-92. Victor Wembanyama scored 40 points to go along with 15 rebounds. Is he now the best basketball player in world? I think so. Also, for the Mavs, Cooper Flagg looked pretty good, considering he is only 18 years old – getting 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds..

34 years after the first time UEFA denied Palace its earned place in a European competition, European competition comes to Selhurst Park for the first time.

Fuck UEFA.

Portland head coach Chauncey Billups and Miami guard Terry Rozier were just arrested in an FBI gambling sting.

Very shocking that there would be anything illegal associated with gambling.

Who didn’t see this coming? That’s why gambling should not be partnered with sports competitions. It will only get messier.

The whole prop bet thing is a disaster waiting to happen.

It sounds extremely like Hatchet Harry’s cheating scheme in “Lock, Stock”.

Oh, this involved La Cosa Nostra? These guys are fuuuuuuuucked

The level of stupidity is stunning. Rozier is making $20MM+ per year and risked (and is about to lose) everything to make a few thousand on rigged betting.

No one can be that stupid. which is enough to make one think, some unsavory characters might have been leaning on him.

Which would mean that said unsavory characters had something on him that is worse than getting caught in a rigged betting game.

Which, in part, returns us to stupidity. It is highly unlikely Rozier approached the mobsters with a get rich scheme but very plausible he was coerced to act due to a prior stupid behavior that made him vulnerable to their demands.
