Forest fans to Brighton fans after they half-heartedly make some noise for their team:
“We forgot that you were here!”
Classic. Uncle Tony will buy anything for Brighton but he cannot buy an atmosphere.

Tru dat.
There were no stepovers or feints, just a switch of feet, Eze passing the ball to himself, one foot to the other, creating the space and delivering the cross in two rat-a-tat touches, with just enough deception – did you think I was a rightie? Here’s my left – and with nothing wasted, even the cross placed just right for Ismaïla Sarr to head into the corner of the net.
FA Cup Semi-Final draw:
Palace vs. Villa
Forest vs. Bournemouth or Citeh
To be played the weekend of April 26/27.
I haven’t watched a Rockets game in a while, but there’s one at 8pm on the NBA Network.
From what little I follow, they’re quite good this year
Missed layups:UT women :: popups:Alex Bregman
Also: making up for it on defense
Their defense was absolutely stifling. Good thing, too, because their shooting was not good, although it improved in the 4th quarter.
Shout out to Oldacre for several clutch contributions and Holle for absurdly tenacious defense that didn’t receive enough notice from the announcers.
So after a streak of 12 hours and 11 minutes of football away from Selhurst Park without conceding a goal - dating back to mid-December last year - someone finally scores against Crystal Palace. That being Southampton, potentially the worst team in Premier League history.
Should’ve put the house on this happening.
It was a pretty good goal.
Really missed Chris Richards there for his aerial prowess. Onuacho is an almost hilariously bad striker, but that was a good header.
F1 is back this weekend, in Japan, and the first two practice sessions have turned up some interesting - and some expected - talking points:
Chris Richards getting some well-deserved good press:
Richards an unsung hero in Palace defence
When Chelsea recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace in January it meant that the south London club had only three frontline central defenders – potentially a major issue given Oliver Glasner’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation. But while Maxence Lacroix and Marc Guéhi have also been outstanding, it was significant that the absence of Chris Richards from the game at Southampton on Tuesday coincided with Palace conceding their first away goal of 2025, a remarkable run of seven fixtures in all competitions. Their record when the USA defender plays shows how important he has been under Glasner, with Palace picking up an average 2.03 points per game compared with just 1.1 without him. The good news is that the 25-year-old former Bayern Munich defender should be back for the Selhurst Park showdown with Brighton on Saturday.
He was definitely missed against Southampton - I doubt they score if it’s Richards defending Onuachu - and he will be missed again tomorrow as he has not quite recovered from his muscle strain.
Ovechkin is all tied up with Gretzky with 894 goals. I didn’t think anyone would ever catch The Great One in goals scored. The all time assists and points records seems securely unreachable.
Ovechkin refused to go back into the game when the Blackhawks pulled their goalie late, not wanting to break the record on an empty net goal. Who did go in was rookie Ryan Leonard who got his first career goal.
Palace - Brighton underway on Peacock. Shots fired early; by which I mean, Mateta blasted one into the top bin in the 3rd minute.
Gretzky’s points record is like if Henry Aaron had 5000 hits
Palace survive an Anthony Taylor masterclass in making everything about him all the time.
Gretzky’s reaction to Ovechkin is class.
I’m reminded of Hank Aaron’s pursuit the all-time HR record, partly because Aaron tied Ruth on the same day, April 4th. Aaron finished the 1973 season with 713, one shy of the record. Of course, not everyone was thrilled with it. Aaron said of the time his main goal was surviving the ‘73 offseason. He genuinely feared being assassinated. Ruth, of course, was long deceased, but his widow was brought in to the race theatrics, and she denounced the racism and said the Babe would have loved it and enthusiastically cheered Aaron on. Thankfully, most did too, culminating with Vin Scully’s famous line about a black man receiving a standing ovation in the Deep South.
“No referee sets out to ruin a game” say people unfamiliar with Anthony Taylor.
He features heavily in the highlights, but it’s only a fraction of the chaos he created through indecision and inconsistency.
Palace’s Henderson making a big case for himself to be England’s goalie in front of England’s manager.
