It’s hard to win two battles against two different foes in the space of 3 weeks, especially after a long march between the two
Good on you. Even people who are vaguely aware of that “other” invasion miss its impact on Hastings.
Also, I found Heimskringla to be a bit confusing compared to other north sagas. Maybe just me. My favorite in terms of the “story” itself has always been Orkneyinga Saga.
I have not read the Heimskringla in its entirety, only excerpts. I read the Prose Edda and things like the Völsunga saga and a few others. It’s been many years though.
Bruno Fernandes sent off, yhtsi.
An American goes to Selhurst Park:
When she walks down to near pitch side, that area used to be a standing only enclosure which is where yours truly used to hang out.
Fulham, Bournemouth and Forest all being top 8 half way(ok fine one game short of half way) through the Premier League season, just 3 years after they were all in the Championship together is wild.
My most fervent hope is that United fail to win again and slide into the relegation zone.
Bournemouth aren’t so much the plucky underdogs; they have a gadgillionaire owner who is pumping cash into the club like crazy.
I don’t know about Forest’s backing, but they’ve already run afoul of the financial regs.
I didn’t know much about Bournemouths ownership situation.
With Forest I think their rule violations were a result of the massive spending spree they had to go when they got promoted. Forest promotion winning squad was basically a bunch of midtable championship players on the final year of their contracts and a TON of loans. When they got promoted I think they had something 5 players on the books for the next season and none of those were Premier League standard. So they basically had to buy a whole new squad without having any money being offset by player sales. So I’m sure they made a massive loss that first season despite getting Premier League money for the first time in over 2 decades.

With Forest I think their rule violations
Their Greek oligarch owner is always getting charged with some kind of violation in his other businesses as well. And he always gets acquitted.
Palace successfully navigated around a banana skin today. Nice to see Eze finally just put his laces through one instead of trying to be cute (or falling over).
Southampton has played half the season now, and has 6 points. The record low points total in Premier League history is Derby with 11. Southampton are flirting with history in the wrong way.
I wondered if Palace were going to achieve another come-from-ahead draw, but they held on. Congratulations.
It was one of those that was edgy to watch because it was only a 1-goal lead, but Southampton were never at the races. Even the extended highlights is about 50% Southampton players riding Palace players like Yoda on Luke.
Palace had 19 shots, 10 on target (Ramsdale in goal for Soton, back from injury, played a blinder). They had 7 shots total, only 3 on target. Another day, and Palace win that game by a touchdown.
Man Utd 2-down at home in 19 mins, and it could easily be worse. yhtsi
I wonder if ten Hag is sitting at home chuckling.
Ipswich!
I fear that Palace get some backlash from this on Saturday.
Chris Richards got done like a kipper for Chelsea’s goal but, otherwise, had an excellent game.
I respect the shit out of the point earned by Palace. We really missed Hughes in midfield.
Daniel Muñoz is my lock for Player of the Season. It’s going to take a standout run from here to usurp him.
Everton has just fired team manager Sean Dyche. That’s not a surprise, really.
What is a surprise is that they kick off in the FA Cup in about 2 hours. That’s some odd timing.
