The opening scene of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with that song as the backdrop was simply fantastic.

My favorite band from age 7 to 16. I’ll happily listen to every song by them except Roll Over Beethoven, which I hate.

When I see this, all I can think is, “the droid… stole a freighter?”

The number of ELO songs in movies, TV, commercials and samples is immense. Lynn must be massively rich, one penny at a time.

I couldn’t recognize any song on that list except Mr. Blue Sky, which I vaguely remember as Beatle-esque, but couldn’t hum a bar. I never could figure out why Jeff Lynne was included in the Travelin’ Willburys. I just missed the whole ELO thing completely, and have never caught up. Sorry.

Lynne was producing George Harrison’s record and they wrote some songs together. One was “Handle With Care”, which they suggested to the record company as a “b-side” on a single release. The record company said it was too good for that so they got the band together and wrote/recorded a whole album. Lynne is not a lightweight.

James Gunn is always good for a good soundtrack.

I guess they threw him a bone because he helped organize the band, co-wrote all the songs, and also produced the Travelin’ Wilburys albums.

Branded, scorned as the one who ran.
What do you do when you’re branded, and you know you’re a man.
They don’t write 'em like that anymore.

Damn, dude, don’t delete it, this thread could use a little offbeat energy. You know damn well Randy Rainbow will have a song out about all this in short order to tie it all together.

If you have good pitch recognition, it would be a tough job to sing, and stay out of tune like this.
