Oh yeah? Show me show me show me all your evidence…
This is why I have always considered “Just Like Heaven” to be the quintessential song by The Cure.
Long intro:
No outro:
Sounds happy:
Isn’t:
It’s not my favorite song of theirs, but everything about it screams The Cure.
ETA: “Just Like Heaven” is also perfect if you ever have to explain the concept of drum fills to anyone. It’s about 50% drum fills.
Kind of begs the question of what they’re the cure for. Contentment? Well-being? Happiness?
Good grief: mezzanine seats for Reckless Kelly at ACL Moody Theater are $250 apiece. GA on the floor are $90. I think I’ll go buy a sixer and pull out the CD’s.
Man, Reckless Kelly is a band I haven’t thought about in ages.
Rick Rubin is a pretty cool cat.
Ll Cool J, Run DMC, Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, and more. One of the commenters put an index together if you want to skip around.
I love Rick Rubin!!!
(#7 is Johnny Cash; Rick Rubin played the producer. Tom Petty played the bass.)
That was a great story.
Had no idea the Heartbreakers were essentially Cash’s band on that recording.
Pretty amazing and diverse discography
I have enjoyed several episodes of his Broken Record podcasts.
I had no idea he did Lucinda Williams “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road” album
That’s the one that made me say “huh”
Also Danzig1 and PE
I assume you have the decency to own VH1 Storytellers of Johnny and Willie singing both of these (for me, it’s the standard).
ETA - @AstrosFanInBigD beat me to it. No surprise.
Do I?
I remember MTV and VH1 somewhat, back in the 80’s
One of my favorite albums of all time. If I still had my cd collection from college, I’d lend you mine.
Wait, what album?
