“Have you paid your dues, Jack?”
I watched Five Easy Pieces a couple of years ago. When is came out in the 70s, I remember as a young 13 year old kid I loved Jack’s rebellious character, Bobby Dupea. He was a hero to a much younger me. Rewatching in my 60s, I see his character in a different light, he was a self indulgent and self destructive asshole, who blew his opportunity as a concert pianist. Still, the waitress was asking for it.
“Get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!”
“I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!”
“Dom’s not in Mexico. Dom’s on the border.”
Apparently the end of that scene is inspired by something Jack did at a diner in Hollywood.

“The Goddam Germans got nothin’ to do with it.”
" There is no way, no way you came from my loins. First thing I do when I get home is punch your momma in the mouth."
My hat blew off, Daddy
I hope your goddamn head was in it
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
