Pro response. Well done, Click.
Agree. I hope Jake O. contacted him to apologize.
Here you go. Looks like they’ve all put it behind them (at least publicly). “We talked about it. It’s a non-issue for me today. We’ve put it behind us. I’m all good.”
And next start, in the same situation pull him after 5 innings
Hopefully, the difference is that it is a non issue.
I appreciate him wanting to pitch, but he needs to realize he has not earned the chance to pitch the 6th inning or go through a lineup the 3rd time.
If ( next time) the first 4 innings play out the same and he has a scoreless 5th, then let him go batter by batter in the 6th.
Games in 2021 are not managed the same as they were 10 years ago. Starting pitchers going 5 innings is the same as going 7 innings 10+ years ago.
It gets more extreme in the playoffs.
Loved the pic used with the wrap of the game last night!
What a contrast!
A 26-yr-old All Star celebrating his WO hit, while anticipating a huge contract next year, with a fellow 27-yr-old All Star and a 28-yr-old rookie that has had only one ML AB. You gotta love baseball!
Hoping Siri gets his chance like Toro & Straw, and other ex-Astros before him.
It seemed like months since the last Astros WO win, but it wasn’t that long ago. Great stuff!
Dusty says “We talked about it like men.”
I was hoping they’d do more than make jokes to hide their discomfort with discussing their feelings.
Dusty Baker do/say something meaningful?
HA.
Speak for yourself, MM. That ain’t the way I do it.
It’s a joke based on the years of work I’ve had to do to move past that point.
The (lack of) offense early in the game dictates early pulls b/c there is less margin for error w/ less that 4 runs scored at that point, certainly with only two runs scored.
Certainly the excellent defense helps. Last night one of the Mariners announcers marveled at the DP ending the 7th inning threat (2:18:00) beating Jake Bauers @ 1B:
(The DB seemed to be slow in developing as Altuve waited for Correa to reach 2b)
…gets the OUT AT FIRST… Oh what a double play! That’s impressive!!!
PS: Was there a Bagwell sighting, seated to the left of Bauers (around 2:16:56)?
I guess I missed the humor and saw only a stereotype I abhor.
Here’s Odorizzi’s message to fans about the dust up. And I do think he wrote it so good on him for that.
