In any case, this will go to trial, Fox will not settle. In the crazy right wing conspiracy economy, settling the case would admit theyāve been lying all along or that they caved to the āwoke mobā. Even losing with treble punitive damages would hurt their brand less than a settlement for less than a billion dollars. Losing big just reinforces the victim complex of the right wing and āprovesā the grand conspiracy.

I agree. Although Iām not sure that even their viewership will be entirely immune to the daily parade of Fox hosts and executives admitting that they lied and fessing up to the āI hate Trumpā messages. The reason they went along with the Big Lie in the first place was because they were bleeding ratings to the upstart nutjob channels.
Foxā lawyers even tried to get Murdoch excused from testifying - because heās too old and frail to travel. The judge told them to get fucked. Itās going to be must see tv!
I assume that any settlement, or a loss at trial, will include a requirement that they publicly air that they were lying. That terrifies them more than monetary damages, and explains why they havenāt settled.
