Democrats turned out in huge numbers in 2018 (and 2020). They now have arguably better reasons to get out in 2022. I am hopeful.
You know there is some mouth breather in Goat Fuck, USA right now writing a law to ban contraception and gay marriage, and that law will pass in that state, be challenged in the courts and start its death march towards this Supreme Court. We’re about 4 years away from not even being able to buy condoms.
However, earlier this week I saw a comment that, if the election was held now, Democrats would flip 3 Senate seats and Warnock’s would go into a runoff. That’s more than enough to neutralize Manchin and Sinema, to blow up the filibuster and pass Court expansion. That’s now on the ballot in November and this week may very well have seen the Supreme Court flip from being a Republican GOTV issue to a Democratic one.

I don’t know. I think it has to happen through a new Voting Rights Act that specifically addresses the issue, but that will require sufficient control of both House and Senate (as well as the presidency, obviously), and some fancy lawyering to create a law that the Supreme Court won’t nullify (which may be impossible with this rabid court).
A good start would be to flip the governorship of a large state and have the new governor’s first order of business be straightening this shit out in that state. Hint, hint.
You vote out the Governor so the new one can veto new shitty districting plans. Worst case, they have to live with the old shitty districting plan, which has been messed up by population changes. Eventually, you get to set fair districts once the gerrymandering has been overrun.
