I knew he would bungle a crisis, so when this started, it didn’t raise much of an alarm when he did his stupid thing. However, it’s gotten much worse as the realization that we are stuck with him has sunk in. The bit last night was scary, not because he fucked up communicating his ill-thought through measure, but because I realized that this is our future. We are going to have to go through this crisis with virtually no competent federal leadership.

He announced three major policy initiatives, and each one was almost immediately walked back by the relevant department.
This was a prepared, written speech! Ignoring the state of the man delivering it (hard to do as he was sniffing and fidgeting and thumb-twiddling the whole time), how do you get these things so wrong?

At what point, or is it even feasible, that they suspend trading?
I was wrong on another thing here. Apparently, people liked his talk today and the markets reacted very positively. Didn’t see it, so not sure what happened.
I don’t think what Trump says or does has much effect on the global markets but whatever.
Trump is selling his response to this national emergency like it’s a condo development: pointing to a hole in the ground and asking people to buy it.
No website until Sunday? What’s the address? He should be pumping that like crazy.
When will actual testing be available? Why will it take 2-3 days to get results (South Korea does it in 10-15 minutes)? Is the testing free? Why is he still shaking everyone’s hand? Does it come with a washer & dryer?

Right, other than that it’s happened twice in the last three days.
This is the worst sounding story I’ve ever heard, you buy into a story like that it should come with a free bowl of soup.
And the presser was timed so that answers to question about how long this emergency will last (8-9 weeks) and whether there’s any progress on response legislation (there isn’t) came after the markets closed.
I think you guys are talking about domestic markets, I was referring to global markets but whatever.
