Inevitable You-Know-Who Thread

Nor did Hap go into the details of the evidence (despite promising to do so many time in his multi-paragraph word salad). He also doesn’t seem to understand that admissibility is whatever the fuck they deem it to be, which is how Republicans were able to exclude all witness testimony.

The main reason why direct evidence was so limited, is that Trump barred many direct witnesses from testifying. Hence Article II. It’s asinine to decry direct witness testimony when you gag all the direct witnesses. Regardless, Vindman was on the call and testified to the validity of the White House’s own call summary that clearly shows the quid pro quo being put down.

But don’t just take my word for it. Here’s the statement of 2012 Republican presidential nominee and current Republican Senator from Utah, Mitt Romney:

The grave question the Constitution tasks senators to answer is whether the President committed an act so extreme and egregious that it rises to the level of a “high crime and misdemeanor.”

Yes, he did.

The President asked a foreign government to investigate his political rival.

The President withheld vital military funds from that government to press it to do so.

The President delayed funds for an American ally at war with Russian invaders.

The President’s purpose was personal and political.

Accordingly, the President is guilty of an appalling abuse of the public trust.

Also, in other news that is sure to trigger Happy, the DOJ investigation into Andrew McCabe for his “…but her emails!” testimony has been terminated.

Also, did we forget that the night of Barack Obama’s election - that very night - McConnell met with Republican committee chairs and they all agreed to simply obstruct anything and everything he wanted to do, regardless of its merits. He then did exactly this for 8 years, including refusing to confirm federal judges, even famously holding open a seat on the Supreme Court for a year!

So go fuck yourself when you claim Democrats are blocking Trump’s agenda. He had both houses of Congress for two years and got nothing done except the tax cut that has blown up the debt and the deficit - something Republicans only give a shit about when there’s a Democrat in the White House.

Oh, and McConnell wasn’t done when Obama left office. He has nearly 400 bills passed by the House sitting on his desk and he has refused to bring all but a scant few (military funding etc.) to the Senate floor for debate. What the fuck does he even do all day?

Seriously. Fuck off with that bullshit. I make no apologies for the language because, to me, it’s far less offensive than the fact free bollocks you’re peddling.

Also, when the republicans did have complete control of the government they through out all bipartisan legislative conventions and refused to allow hearings or consider amendments for the major tax legislation and attempt to repeal the ACA.

The State Dept. quietly closed this file, stamped it “Nothing to See Here” and filed it next to the Arc.

Let’s not forget that then sputtering House Rep and current sputtering House Minority Leader, Kevin McCarthy, spilled the beans on TV when he bragged about how the House Benghazi investigation was dragging down Sec. Clinton’s poll numbers.

Couldn’t agree with this more.

It seems the case was dropped because a FOIA request was about to turn over this rock and find…low and behold…the judge had expressed strong reservations that Trump had been pushing this prosecution as retribution against McCabe.

Surely not!

Following a Trump tweet storm on Thursday, in which he wailed that Roger Stone’s trial was somehow rigged, Stone’s attorneys have filed a motion demanding a retrial.

Honestly, I cannot understand how anyone can be ok with any of this. Especially, “law and order” conservatives.

Trump is not a fiscal conservative
He’s not a social conservative
He’s not a Christian conservative

Conservatives: ride or die, motherfuckers!

Why even worry about Happy or D Ward. All they have is bad faith bullshit and they will clutch it tightly til their end.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I was a registered Democrat my whole life up until the Obama administration. I thought Bill Clinton was a good president. Obama just did too many things that I disagreed with. Such as paying Iran $1.7 billion dollars. The Uranium One deal was questionable. Obamacare was terrible. Our borders became a mess. Many terrible decisions. I like that Trump negotiates new deals. I like that he gets tough with our enemies instead of paying them off. He’s not a great guy but he’s not a politician. That’s why I voted for him.

Iran got $1.7 billion because that is what the international court ordered the USA to pay in restitution for taking money from Iran for arms and then not delivering…under Reagan. It was that much money because of compound interest. It was cheaper to pay them than to let the amount continue to compound. It was paid in cash because Iran was under sanctions and no western bank could be used to effect the transfer. #Nuance

Clinton didn’t sell a molecule of Uranium to anyone, let alone the Russians. The Canadian company that owned Uranium stocks held in the US sold to a Russian company. The US govt reviewed it and okayed it because the uranium wasn’t going anywhere. Clinton was SoS at the time and the State Dept. was one of a number of agencies who reviewed and approved the deal. #Nuance

Obamacare put tens of millions of people on health insurance who wouldn’t have had it otherwise. It allowed kids under 26 to stay on their parents coverage. It eliminated exclusions for pre-existing conditions. It eliminated lifetime caps. It stopped insurance companies cancelling coverage on people who got sick. It enabled me to get insurance for my wife and I for 6 months after I lost my job. It’s very popular - polling significantly higher than Trump. His efforts to kill Obamacare is probably the single biggest reason for the electoral massacre suffered by the GOP in 2018 where they lost by a record margin of 10 million votes. #Nuance

Illegal immigration dropped to net zero under Obama. He deported more people than any president before him by a significant margin. The borders were a mess because John Boehner refused to put to a vote in the House the bipartisan immigration reform bill passed by the Senate, because it would pass the House to and Obama would’ve signed it. #Nuance

Trump pulled out of TPP, and now we have no leverage in the Asian markets.

Trump undid NAFTA, and has not yet put a replacement in its place.

Trump gave North Korea the privilege of a presidential meeting, which was the prize, not the prelude, for a deal. Kim lead Trump around by the nose for a few months but has been accelerating his nuclear program the whole time. Now he has warheads capable of being launched from submarines.

Trump pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal, giving up all his leverage. Iran started fucking with the US and there was no response other than to go to pretend war. Iran called that bluff too, then pulled out of the nuclear deal entirely and is now full bore on a nuclear weapons program. As a bonus, he got over 100 US troops traumatic brain injuries (which he called headaches) and Iraq kicked us out of their country.

Trump left the Kurds - our long- time allies and a big reason for the success in the fight against ISIS - to be slaughtered by Turkey. As a bonus, the Kurds weren’t able to hold ISIS prisoners anymore and so they’re now reorganizing.

This is what you voted for.

I hate to let such fake news go unrebutted. Maybe someone will see the response and understand better.

You’re leaving out the breaching of all of the conventions of sharing of power in our institutions. Of course, some of the blame for that lies with The Turtle.

McTurtle is more responsible for the Washington shit-show than any other single person. Trump is the product - not the cause - of that shit show. A functional GOP doesn’t get co-opted by Trump.

Yes, and will vote for him again if the Democrats can’t come up with a good candidate.

I would respect that opinion more if you showed an interest in doing anything more taxing than occasionally reading the Fox News chyron.

You’d vote for him again if the Democrats nominated Jesus Christ. Don’t try to kid us, or yourself.

Jesus Christ would be in favor of Medicare 4 All and the taking of guns.

A new opinion poll - just one poll, mind - has Trump winning Texas in the general election. But by no more than 4 points, only 3 points from Warren and only 2 points from Sanders.

That can’t be comfortable. If the nominee picked as VP either Castro or O’Rourke, Texas would be for sure in play.

Fuck that shit! He is a healer. He would do what a healer would do.
